According to a very reliable unnamed PCNA source... this may not be news to many, but just thought that I would post it.

i don't expect to see a 09 anyway. GT3 in production for 2 years then a break follow by the next GT3 in a year or 2.

Founding myself ready to order, not sure about what I must do...

Yeah, not really news but you're correct, production of 2008 GT3s end in 12/2007 and that's it for 997 GT3s.

Unless you are willing to wait one or two years for the MKII I would order now. If you decide to wait I hope you have a good relationship with your dealer because the MKII might be in short supply?

I heard from my dealer when I picked up my GT3 that the future of several Porsches may change....some may disappear in fact.

The future of the 911 will be dramatically trimmed down. There have been several comments that there are just "too many" 911's from which to choose. In future there may be only a couple versions of the 911 (997 replacement, 998 or whatever you want to call it), one of which will be a high performance, stripped down, costly, race-ready machine in very short supply. There has been speculation on a GT3 mk2 with a 3.8 and DFI. I do not think this will be the "future 911" just yet, but I only mention this as to point out that Porsche wants to take a different direction with several of their automobiles. It is hard to imagine Porsche would not want to stay very profitable so I suppose what they will lose in volume they will make up for in cost per unit.

Agree: bird in hand...

But my MY03 996TT can last one more year, perfect condition and only 38.000 miles. Isn't a track beast, sure, but really is a exciting car, so I can wait for a MKII GT3 if really comes...

This would be my first new Porsche, all the previous are 1 or 2 year used ones with low mileages and optimal condition that I've purchased 30-40% under list price, so I want avoid the high depreciation that any model suffers when a restyling/major upgrade is done. I'm thinking about MKII, not about 998 or whatever they finally will call the netx series that I suposse that we can't see at least until 2010...

Regards.

Are you actually implying that there will be a 2010 997 GT3 MkII. Let's think about this for a minute... the 998 (or whatever the next generation is going to be called) is not that far down the road.

Not exactly. The real question is if GT3 MKII will exist or not on 997 line. If not, I must order it inmediatly, because the prices will be stable or high during the next two or three years.

But think about ordering now and receiving the car in december (confirmed by the dealer here on Spain) if a mere external restyling or true MKII with mechanical upgrade is announced in the next year...Very bad news for a new car.

Regards.

Completely agree. But 997 GT3, despite its limited market, is currently selling well, so what is the reason for sttoping the production at the end of the year ? May be I can understand halting RS production, but "normal" GT3...why ? All the industrial costs related to make a special model are invested, so for me cease the production has no sense...

Regards.
