Assuming I did the math correctly:
The new Toyo R888 are about 14lbs heavier than the MPSC, and about $500 cheaper per set. This begs the question would you spend an additional $500 to save 14lbs? Toyos have a great reputation, but can they overcome the weight disadvantage?
The rear R888 are only available in 295/30 19, at the moment (fronts are exactly the same). A rough cacluation says the diameter is only about .3" less that the MPSC so that should not make a big difference (right?).
Now you see why it is a 14lb monkey..l

If comparing against N rated PSCs then I would give the Toyos a shot. You are not going to a competition so even if they are a little slower it will still be ok. For $500 less it's worth a try.
On 18" rubber the real PSCs are faster in the dry but I assume you are aiming for 19".
I would not worry about .3" less diameter. The TPMS and ABS should still work fine.

It's not just 14 lbs, but 14 lbs of reciprocating weight. There is a rough approximation is 4:1 ratio of rotating weight to static weight when accelerating in lower gears. Would you pay $500 to save 14lbs from your flywheel?
BTW one of the cheaper ways to lose wt is going to an optima or equivalent battery - 30lbs or so

i am going to 18" soon.
i haven't ran R888 yet, but lots of exp with RA1, which i was told is similar but 888 may be a tad quicker than RA1.
i know R888 and RA1 are both much heavier than mpsc, but i am not sure mpsc is faster. for first 2-3 sessions, yes, mpsc is faster. but also depends on how you drive. if you aren't in traffic and can push lap after lap and slide the car a bit, mpsc gets greasy after 6-7 laps. i spoke with many who ran mpc and the concur on that. RA1 you can drive it sideways if you must and it will not grease up as much as mpsc. of course if you are very precise, then mpsc may be the tires for you.
also, RA1 has much longer life and more tolerant of psi differences. if you are 2-3lbs off, you are ok, of you are 2-3 lbs off on mpsc, it's not funny at all.
RA1 is also more cosistent from new to cord, while mpsc isn't.
i am hoping R888 would be as good as RA!, but just in case, i have stashed away 3 sets of RA1.

Wheel Enhancement (Culver City, CA) usually has the properly sized N-spec tires for the GT3 in stock.

Recently changed wheels (Champions) and saved 10 lbs of unsprung weight per rear wheel as compared to stock .... I can definitely feel the difference.

I have driven my GT3 in a rain storm and it was a fair bit twitchy on MPSC. I would never want to be caught in a rain storm in the R888.
