Default Paint or Powder coat RS rear cage

How many have painted and how many have powder coated the RS rear cage., and how did any of you manage with the factory installed felt at the top of the cage main hoop and the black stick on stuff for the belt sections .

LOL, i guess the RS stays.

i dont have oem rear cage, but i like my powdercoated with a slight crinkle finish. it's very durable. i also had painted bars and smooth powdercoated bars. of the three finishes, the crinkled powder coat is the most durable, not a chip. all the other finished i had, eventually chipped up.

Mooty, re: Rs stays, not really, but maybe the rear cage will stiffen the rear some more to make it turn, so I figured if I'm going to do it I may as well do it right especially as I HAVE the rearcage mounts.

But you know what they say "You can put lipstick on a pig .......but it's still a pig."

Most interested parties are dissapointed the car doesn't have PCM, full leather and carbon, plus deviated stitching...give me a break!

One guy asked why it didn't have a sunroof. That says it all for me.

I try to talk up the footwell lighting package but it fails to impress.

Next I may go for the illuminated sill covers.

I know a pro who can really make it turn. Probably the best GT3 driver out there today (was in Tornoto recently, and won)....and he loves the car.

A friend and I each had our DAS "weekender" cages powdercoated locally. $100 ea. Gorgeous job, very handsome and should be way more durable than paint.

If you can powdercoat it Orange (that's if you're going with orange and not black) do it cause paint is no where near as durable as paint. Mine is painted and full of chips. I had to touch it up and now most of it is covered with clear tape.

powder coating it orange is hard.
not many powder coaters are good enough to match powdercoat to paint.

A buddy of mine use to powder coat and had a pretty extensive choice of colors but never attempted to mix is own. Being powder, don't think it would be easy.

If I remember correctly my buddy's supplier had a color chart that had to be posted on a wall (since it was so big), I can't imagine not being able to find an orange that would match at 90%. The roll bar is in the car behind glass so a little off wouldn't be that bad. Not like any body panels.

Good luck Ron

Default Orange Powder

The GMG orange powder coat does not match the orange from the factory, but if it goes on black or silver car, it is not too noticeable. No wrinkles on their powder coating, very smooth finish.

Are you getting another fabulous TCDesign creation?? My buddy really wanted their roll bar for his Cayman S but settled for harness bar since TC only taylor's it only on the car.

from personal experience, powder coat is more durable. i had bars both painted and powder coated, and also over 30 custom mt bikes 1/3 with pant, 2/3 with powder. no matter what i crashed into, deers, trees, rock (hey i am not joking), powder coating suffered less wear/tear.
