Yea, the first time I removed it, I yanked/wedged it through the hole. Then I realized, that after removing the inner wheel well panel, you could "semi easily" slide your hand in and then retrieve/ replace the screw from there .

So how do you clean all the bugs, cig butts, small rocks and stuff that get past the screens?

Hence my solution to put the mesh directly in front of the radiator. Cut a rectangluar piece and stick on using hi-temp RTV.

1) You don't have to remove the bumper
2) You can reach in and easily clean out any debris

Ryan,

Thank you very much for your post. Very detailed and clear, nice pics too. I will try to post some pictures later. I used aluminium mesh designed to be a gutter cover. Home depot, $1.95. However you will need 2 of them. Easy to form and cut. Once installed it looks exactly like the Carnawell mesh.

Ryan, thanks again,

Stephan

NSXTC:

Fantastic install on the rear belts. So, when you tackle above, please post or advise. Thanks in advance.

Default Thanks for a great post and DIY project

I put stainless screen in front of my Ducati's oil cooler and saved it from fin abuse-

I will do the same with my 997 - I sourced stainless cloth via McMaster Carr.

I await my Hella 335 Hz roadrunner beep beep horns, and then I will install mesh and horns

Default Installed stainless mesh screens and new horn

Installed stainless 5x5 mesh screens over radiators and new Hella horn in place of 1 OE horn.

Basically, followed directions and removed induction scoops. I then safety wired (stainless) cut to fit (stainless) screens directly to radiators . I used 1/4 " thick flexible clear bumpers from Ace hardware with adhesive backing to stand-off screens about 1/4 " off radiator surface to prevent rubbing and damage.

While I was at it, I installed a 335 Hz 110 dB Hella disc horn in place of the 510 Hz high tone OE horn.

I am thrilled with the fun beep beep old school sound.

Thanks again for the great directions !

Default Glad to see this thread is still alive - mesh has saved my rads

Great thread - since May of this year my stainless screens have prevented radiator fin damage - trucks are always throwing stuff up and the roads are poor, especially on 101 in NorCal

My clear bra has worked as well to protect the paint !

I have been looking at this thread thinking about putting in screens. Last year I just took some screen pre cut it and put it in the air vents. It never came out all year of tracking kept stuff off my radiators and allowed me to get in to clear out the rubber buggers so I am not sure I want to pull the bumper off or not.

The pictures below are not the best but it gives you the idea.

Nicely done. Mine still haven't given out, but when they do, I'm going to get me some of this stuff.
