Default Ferrari 1000kg concept and technical innovation...

Following the Ferrari 1000kg concept unveiled yesterday...

Ferrari_1000kg_concept

...thought this could be an interesting read...

Ferrari_Technical-Innovation

...I wonder how long before we will see a 1000kg concept GT3?

physically smaller and focused on weight reduction.
ferrari is moving in the right direction.
although the "enzo nose" is still fugly.
would be nice if porsche did something like this,
although it would most likely require a seperate model
since a lot of 911 buyers like the S I Z E.

WOW great stuff. Anyone who doesn't think F1 technology can't be transitioned into road cars should read the link. Also, what appears to be a F1 steering wheel hub on P.10 is amazing. How does a driver absorb the information while doing almost 200mph?

Lastly, the use of electronic energy to overcome loss of torque while shifting is unbelieveable.

No doubt Porsche should be concentrating on dropping the weight of future 911 variants rather than increasing displacement. Imagine the improved acceleration, handling, braking and fuel economy of a 998 with the 3.6L GT3 motor with DFI giving 450 NA horsepower in a car weighing less than 3000 pounds. Add in DSG, lighter wheels and ceramic brakes for less unsprung weight and I'd be one happy camper.

Would me nice. At least one manufacturer is doing this. I never understood why are car like the GT3 can't at least be under 3000 lbs; it is just plain ridiculous. But from everything I read, it feels like a light car; I'll find out soon enough when I do a back to back with my Exige S.

Porsche has already gone this route - look at the Cayman. It is already a better and lighter platform than the 99x. Restyle the Cayman body slightly and people may no longer ridicule it. Of course, that would cut into Porsche's bottom line if the Cayman displaced too much of the 911 sales

Well, this one is not Ferrari but is real, 1080 Kg, Mid Engined 300 hp (VAG FSI), DSG, Designed by Henrik Fisker (BMW Z8, Aston Martin V8), Managed by ex Rolls Royce, Maserati Boss and backed by Paragon (German car electronics supplier to major brands incl. Porsche).

www.artega.de

I look forward to this fresh car and manufacturer from Germany.
