Default OT: heading up the the races in Montreal

on Thursday.

Will anyone be around? Can anyone give non-f1 related advice on places to eat, drink, and play with boobies? LOL.

Staying at the Sheraton near the airport and getting shuttled around by a good friend and F1 zealot in his M5.

Frayed,
I went up to Montreal for the race in 05 in a caravan of sports cars from the DC area. The drive up was 1/2 the fun. Last time was in 05. Anyway, St. Catherine St is the main strip. You will have no problems finding it. There are many exotics around and some streets are roped off each day for certain makes, ie Ferrari, Porsche. As for strip clubs, not the best time to go. The place is so crowded that I avoided them that week. Bring your earplugs for the race, sound is deafening.

St. Laurent St.
Buono Notte - awesome food, amazing waitresses, good party after dinner
Prima Donna - good food
Time Club on St jacques - crazy ****ing party, good food too

all 3 of the above restaurants start out as restaurants and then at 1am it turns into bottle service club

crescent st is also a good bar street
cavalli on Peel also very good restaurtant
Old Montreal also is nice, lots of restos but the party is on St Laurent.

Yes bring ear plugs to the race - its a must have.

All the above is really good and as for boobies, you've got "Chez Paré" on Stanley street below St-Catherine, "Solid Gold" on upper St-Laurent street and good old "Supersex" on St-Catherine.

On race day, Crescent street is blocked off to PCA and members can watch the race from different bars.

I second Buono Notte. At least one night, make a reservation for dinner and stay there.

The best way to get to the race is by Metro.

Park near a Metro station and go from there. Friday is tricky as it is a work day. But both Saturday and Sunday are easy. I parked right by Berri-UQAM station on Sunday morning so I did not need to transfer lines.

Getting into the Metro after the race can be tricky as the crowds are huge. But there is a simple trick. Stay left and go around the line. 15 minutes to get in instead of 1.5 hours.

I will be on grandstand 24.
Where are you sitting?

Thanks amaist. Here's what my friend got for tickets:

Grandstand 2 - section 2, row LL, seats 25 to 27 - across from start/finish line and pits - next to hospitality tents - near casino

Cool.

It will be a long walk for you. No matter which way you approach the site.
I recommend the Casino bridge. That is the bigger one more upstream along the river. You will have to go through the park a little bit to reach it. Don't cross the river onto the track at the bridge closest to the Metro. Walking through the crowds is very annoying at the track.

Screw the metro, just grab a cab and it will drop you off close to casino. They have a reserved lane.

frayed,

maybe Scott Speed will make it onto the podium

although you probably have a better chance of bumping
into baby Jesus on the grid than that happening

do you follow F1? who will you be rooting for?

I don't really follow F1, though I've caught a few races this year on my DVR. I'm really going for the experience, and b/c a close friend invited me; it's important to him so it's important for me to go.

Who are you rooting for?

It would be amazing to see an american up on the podium. . . baby jesus, flying monkeys, etc comments all apply here.

Come on Lewis Hamilton! I've got some sweet pictures of him racing and other wicked F1 shots, I put them up here.

http://www.porscheguys.com/F1

I have a lot of Jaguar too because I like Jaguar and their historic racing pedigree--too bad they didn't stay with it or field an all British F1 Team--Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley. Three amazing marques, three amazing histories.

Edit: Off topic rant!
I also have pictures of Red Bull because they fund raise/and one of their sponsors Wings for Life - Spinal Cord Research Foundation hits really close to home.
Sorry for the way off topic rant!

I'll be there. Grandstand 1 / section 3 / row c. Staying at the Queen E and taking a cab to the races. Got dinner lined up Friday and Sunday. I'm hitting a different strip club every night. I consider it my bachelor party!

Alonso is the man to beat.
