Tire Options for 997 GT3
Hello Everybody. I recently bought a Cobalt Blue 997 GT3. The car is absolutely phenomenal. However, I am concerned about the amount of tire wear in a MPSC. My car has 1700 miles on it and the rear look 50% worn. What other tire options have you guys tried?
I am mainly going to use the car on the street. I will probably track it once a year. I have a Spec miata and track sorted NSX that I track otherwise.

based on your post, i would put michelin PS2 on the car. they are a bit longer lasting and still will give you great performance on the street.

I have about 4k on my tires and I am guessing I have another 1000 miles on them left. I have tracked it once. I will probably change to PS since I am not a good enough driver yet to get the most out of the cups.

Thanks.

I just picked my car up yesterday and it came with Pirelli Pzero's. I did not specify what tires I wanted and the dealer told me the factory either puts the Michelins or the Pirelli's on them. Are my tires better

Definitely get after your dealer for an alignment to factory stock specs. They should perform far better than that.
It's been my understanding that they are directed by Porsche AG to do it for free within a couple thousand miles of new. Things can occasionally happen enroute on the ships.

If the former, then you are really getting street tires, if the latter then you are getting the semi slick tires which are of similar grade to MPSC

The cars come on either MPSC "N" spec which is a more rain friendly version of the Michelin Cup or, an "N" spec Corsa which is also an R compound tire with additional grooves for water evacuation. Neither is as good in the dry as the regular Cup or Corsa. Both are far better in the wet. The Michelin seems to have more dry grip than the Corsa and the Corsa is superior in the wet based on my track days so far.
