Installed Rollbar in RS Yet?

The 996 bar is a different design, but looking at the chart, I was wrong. I followed the instructions for my car in January and had the feeling that -- using a DAS bar -- it was a tight fit. Two problems I encountered were the height of the cross bar to the height of the driver's shoulders (the guide holes in the seat must not deflect the belt and the angle of the belt should be as close to horizontal as possible, the allowed angle was something like 15% below (not at all above) horizontal (from my rusty memory.)
Note that the distance X is to the top of the shoulder, not the back of the seat.
The chart shows mm and inch measurements for M and L collars.
10" is 254 mm
add another few inches or call it 300.
As long as you add collars to keep the belts at the right spacing on the cross bar, it should be fine.
I found it a lot more comfortable to cross the belts into the lap buckle.

Retail is $1,982. I was quoted from $1,982 to $2,775 depending on dealer (I paid a little less than retail). I found a different source through this board and got their last one. They had 3 more on order with ETA of 2nd week of May.

Erik,
Did you have it painted orange? Can the bolts be painted or powerdercoated so the disappear?
My cage should arrive tommorrow, so I am trying to decide to paint orange or black?

Thanks Matt,
John, I had it painted orange, because I tried to have it the same as the Euro RS, which is why I did not paint the bolts. It's not the prettiest, but it's how the Euro RS came, so that's what I got. The bar comes in black, but by the time you get it, it will need to be repainted. It's kind've beaten up and looks like black primer.

Thanks Eric, I have seen how it is delivered and definately will have to be painted. Since my center console is black, I was planning on black. But like you the Orange represents the factory look.

Thanks Grussell,
Bob, you're correct, those are the Euro 996 GT3 seats with alcantara cushions. There is a limit that I'm willing to pay for originality, and $8K+ for a set of seats I just can't do. I had the same seats in my 996 GT3 and found them quite nice. Livable on the street (not great) and pretty nice on the track.
