The front looks busy but I like the rest.
Nice roof.

You know; every time I see the 997 chassis, I can't convince myself to buy a 996 even if it is a GT3. I don't mean to start flame-war over that... the 996 just doesn't have that Carrera look I so desire.
For this latest M3, I wonder if BMW can still maintains the near 50/50 weight distribution with this new V8... Carbon fiber roof is for-sure to be available and let's see the 7-speed tranny, manual and SMG are top notch.

You know, having owned three M3's, two E36's and one E46, the car has a special place in my heart.
That being said, BMW has completely abandoned what M stood for, it aint Motorsport no more.
The E46 M3 was nice, moderately fast, nice SMG tranny, nice pre bangled interior with driver oriented cockpit, classic graceful look.
But, it was over weight at 3400 pounds, the brakes sucked and get destroyed after 4 track days along with purpled and blued rotors.
The E92 M3 you are looking at 3500 something with still single piston Scheiße for brakes.
BMW's stubborness in fitting brakes that's worth a damn and cars that weight 3500 pounds means the new one is doomed for a life of street existence only.
A far cry from the E30 days.
Shame, really.
And after driving my GT2 at Sears Point this past weekend, there simply was no comparison. Heavy cars suck. Heavy cars with Scheiße for brakes suck even more.

If they ever do come out with a CSL/LTW version it will be badass. The E9x chassis is a big steup up from the E46 chassis, which is a stronger, tweaked version of the E36 chassis. 3500lbs. . . wet, in the real world, I think we'll see weights quite a bit more than 3500lbs.

I totally agrees with the weight of the cars keep increasing. And that perhaps give more reason for niche market now dominated by Lotus. At US$60K for a lotus, the lightweight M3 at $90K doesn't sound too bad to me.
