Default Introduction

Hi all, I have just joined the forum.
I'm in the process of closing the final details on the Purchase of my GT3.
I ordered the car last December in a Mexico city Dealership and recieved my car last week (attached is a photo of it still in wraps). I'm also trying to figure out all the details of how to keep my car in the US and maybe even register it here.
I live in El Paso Tx.
Hope to learn much from all the members.
I also have a 1974 911 Targa, and previously owned a 2003 GT2 and a 1998 996(Euro spec).

Congratulations!!, I got the same color.
Mexico City?
Do you plan to drive it to TX or are they gone ship it to you?
Which options did you order?

Mexico city was my way to get around long waiting lists and premium over sticker prices US dealers are offering. Plus I have dual citizenship with the US and Mexico. I'm still confirming all the little details regarding EPA compliance and safety compliance so I could think about registering the car here.

I think I will have it shipped, a friend of my father owns a shipping company and they will charge me $500 to shipped it to Cd Juarez and then from there I will drive it home, its a 10 minute drive or a 1 hour drive if I get to wait a long time at the border crossing.

As far as the options I kept it very simple,
Decided to go with chrono pkg, sun roof, bi xenon lamps, red dials in dashboard, sound pkg plus (no idea if its the same as the US audio pkg), red seat belts, Porsche crest in headrests and floor mats.
Ceramic brakes where discarded at the last moment after expensive experience with my old Gt2.

What options did you ordered?

Now that's funny! Here's a guy who could've ordered a GT-3 WITHOUT a sunroof and he orders it! Maybe Porsche knows something we don't!

I forgot to mention in my options grey alcantara seats.

I will drive it in Mexico, I don't think I would venture by my self, but would drive with a couple of friends. If you ever drive it on a Mexican Highway be sure to know the condition of the road and beware of mexican highway patrol that now use radar guns.
If I lived in Mexico city my answer would be most likle no, I would not drive it, but here in this area I would say there is more safety, my Father in law drives daily his 06 M5 to his factory in Juarez and my father drives his 996 daily to work in Juarez. So I think its ok to do so. The other nice thing that helps not to drive it as often on the Mexican side is that we have a couple of nice roads nearby and a really inexpensive track.

so is the sunroof standard in mexico too? was it optional to delete it?
i thought price in mexico was considerably higher for the same car versus the US because of importation taxes?

Interesting....
I also have dual citizenship, lived in Mexico for 20 years but TJ is a mess now,
my next trip is the 101 to SF.

When did you ordered it?

I ordered it I think at the end of November begining of December, the Dealer already had an allocation so they just changed but they usually take about 6 months to deliver.

How long did they took to allocate you, my father in law is also intrested on getting a Gt3 but I have no idea how are the dealers doing that this year.

Base price is around 130, and sunroof is optional. But also got a good deal for another car as a trade in.

Congrats and welcome!

I've been mad about the current dollar euro rate. If the dollar vs. euro was stronger (say at least 1 to 1), I could buy a GT3 without the hole for 93000 or a GT3RS for 111 600...

Or if it was like 5-6 years ago (pretty much other way around than what it is now), numbers would be 77500 (GT3) and 93000 (GT3RS)...

Waste of time to think about it but some times I can't help myself...

I don't think so. Mexico is part of the North American continent. American's were never great at geography.. It's not an ROW car.

I was on the list in March, ordered the car in August and
got it mid January.

So your car will have MX plates?, you can import it back to the U.S but that must be expensive.
