Default Build Date

FWIW When I spec'd my car, I was told I had a Feb. build date. Today, when I called the dealer to find out whether I could change a minor detail, my salesman checked the computer and discovered the car was scheduled to be completed on January 28 -- ahead of schedule. Yikes! I'd better start cleaning out the garage . . .

I thought the silver one I saw looked great. Ive had two silver Porsches, a 96 993tt and an 06 Cayman S so this one will be different. How long after completion does a car usually ship?

I was told it shipped about a week after completion and took about 3 weeks to get to the West Coast.

Just got this note through email from my dealer. Pretty responsive dont you think?

I hope you're well today. I thought you would like to know that your GT3
RS was assigned a production number today. This means that it now has a
Checkpoint 8 date (production complete) of July 17th, 2007.

My RS was supposed to be completed Jan 3, I called my dealer that day and he checked the computer to find it now said Jan 9. Probably mid Feb. at the West Coast if no furhther delays. I need to call him again soon! We'll have to meet up in Late Feb???

It would be hard to complete your car when they were closed until today (January 8th) for their two week holiday (computer probably assigned the date and then adjusted for the two week closure). Mine is due to be completed tommorrow. I was also told 4 to 6 weeks after that it would be in S. Calif.

I just hope they didn't forget to finish something on our cars, while they were on holiday or were not focused while waiting for the holiday to begin!

From completion date to ONVESL..mine took 3 days...usually you can expect 7-10 days (factory to port via train).
Then 20-30 days to San Diego and hopefully there will be an Intercity Lines waiting for delivery to your dealer after PDI.
