Wow, this is the first picture of a red one and I am impressed. My order is for a silver on black. I am thinking of changing my mind now. So what is everyone's favorite color combo?

Another dealer I talked to may have an April '07 allocation available. Unfortunately their idea of a trade in value is an insult to me.

We'll see what happens in '08 but if the upgrade to the 997 GT3 is the same as keeping my car and picking up a 996 GT3 solely for the track then I will likely take Door #2.

You guys are tough, I test drove a GT3 for an afternoon, I think the Bobcat at work rode softer As nice as the car is I'd rather have my softer 997C2 or a 997TT. But if I had the extra money for two Porsches.....well then I'll definitely take one for the track

chris 996 GT3 +keeping 997s ( i currently have one too) maybe only a bit more expensive than
a 997 GT3 so 2 vs 1 but why do you need two recent 911's? i plan to trade my 997s for a GT3

Why? Why not?

Set one up for track only - aggressive alignment, seats, bar/cage etc. and the other I can keep my heated all leather power seats in my 997 which are great on the street.

if 996 gt3 was really cheap car you beat on (like an old 911 track-car) and completely strip and trail to the track( really agressive alignment ) then that's the best combo

IMHO gt3's 996/997 are dual purpose cars so you can do an agressive alignment and rollbar and then swap the seats in the winter to
heated full leather etc

my opinion but can't go wrong either way

Ballpark, what do you think they will offer you for your 997S in 2008??

Probably $75k CDN difference + taxes . . . My car loses $50k in 3 years and 24000 km (about 14,000 miles).

I'll be able to buy a used 996 GT3 solely for trackwork for the same money AND keep my 997. No compromises then.

Jeff it does look good. My deposit is still in for that allocation. I have a year to make up my mind.

Default 997 GT3 vs 997S X51 vs 996GT3

I just received my 997GT3 and let go of my 997S X51 with aerokit (GT3 look-a-alike) and prior to that had the 996 GT3 (also have had the 997 Turbo and 996 Turbo and GT2).
Obviously the GT3 is the rawist of all of them. The nice thing about the new GT3 is that it is, shall I say without getting shot down, a little smoother ride even with the sport buttons on. The car is not as skittish as the 996 GT3, it is hugely powerful (I have only gone to 5000 rpm so far), the intake sound is similar to the 996 GT3, but it has something the old one didn't "an incredible exhaust note". I compare the entire experience to being on par with a Gallardo or an F430 (driven both a bit lately). This car can definitely be a routine ride, not just for Sundays. You must work out your left leg though, thank goodness they put in a tough clutch pedal, it fits the bill of the raw-like car it is.
I hope to drive it alot more over the next couple of weeks to really get to know it better, I am sure I will have a huge smile each time.
