Hi Chris, Yep.... as far as I know. He was a real gentleman to me and spent a lot of time over the phone trying to work out the deal! I sure hope nothing goes wrong and ruins the great experience that I have with them so far. Michael

Congrats on the car. You will love it I'm sure (based upon how great the GT3 is).

Well, you know we'll take care of you service wise; we just took delivery of our own RS today- came right off of the intercity lines carrier- I told everyone to take a long hard look, it might be the ONLY one they'll see- who woulda thunk you were gonna grab one too!! Now we get to see yours as well!!!

I'm not sure if you've heard the car yet, but let me tell you- you're in for a treat!!!

No..... Yes...... No..... !!!

The papers will be here on Tuesday and they'll get them back Wednesday and hopefully the car will be here the following week sometime UNLESS...... somebody goes in there and offers them more 'stupid money' than I did! BUT.... Well, we (the Owner's son and I) made the deal over the phone, shook hands virtually and I'm sending him a deposit early next week! I would think that's a 'solid' binding contract! Wouldn't you?

Please don't ask me what I paid! I really don't need any more people other than my girlfriend, my family and the rest of her family trying to convince me I'm a complete '*******'!!!

Lemme see..... how can I justify this transaction. Top 10 list: 1) I don't have an Orange car 2) I'm 59 and not sure how much time is left 3) I have an empty space in the garage 4) I like aggravating my girlfriend 5) My family hates me 6) I don't have any mistress on the side 7) 2 Porsches is not enough for anyone 8) I sold my 997 Turbo to get the SLR and now I'm totally depressed 9) I'm a deprived child (Yeah right!) 10) I really am a complete ******* !!!

Forgive me but I gotta go and take my meds and the Nurse has to give me a shot!!! I feel kinda sea-sick and I'm afraid of boats as much as I am of flying! Magwheel
You have a case as bad as mine and more $$$$$ to feed the Dark Demon luring inside. I don't know...not even Smart Car therapy will work in cases like this.

YOU"RE DOOMED!!!!!!

Heyyy!! Yes it is! I sent him pictures while he's in CO skiing!

I've posted the infamous "Car parked next to a dumpster, with a Maybach 62 throw in for good measure" picture.

This is a teaser only and the rest will have to be posted by Bill himself!!

Default Maybach

Is that Mr. Jones' Maybach? Those Cavs know how to roll. I told Bill I'd be glad to collect his car today but he'd have none of it.

OK guys, I confess...I went by the dealership on the way home from the airport. Those four face prints on the back garage window are from me and my kids. Man, it even looks mean in the dark!

Talking My purchase of the Orange GT3RS!

This is a little story I have regarding my purchase of the Orange GT3RS from Herb Chambers Porsche. I purchased the car on Saturday and the following tidbit is what followed and had me a nervous basket case all day yesterday and this morning!!!

I had a PM from one of 6Speedonline's members (not to be named) early Sunday morning giving me some very disturbing news! He informed me that he had heard from a very reliable source that the Herb Chambers Porsche dealership had sold the GT3RS out from underneath me to someone else (also not to be named) for more money than the deal I had made with the owner's son, George Chambers, on Saturday...... essentially stabbing me in the back! To say I was POd, mad, freaked out, foaming at the mouth or slightly upset at this news is an understatement!!!

I told the person who sent me the PM, that I had finalized a deal and that as far as I was concerned, it was a binding oral contract with a man who gave me his word that the deal was absolutely unbreakable. I even asked him if we shook hands over the phone to seal this transaction to which he replied... "We have a deal..... the car is 100% yours!"

What had me perplexed after receiving the PM was that George, Herb's son, had talked to me as a gentleman and I was convinced he was a man of his word! He spent 15-20 minutes with me on Friday talking about the car and how he said it was not sold and I could still buy it for the right price and then I called him back on Saturday and we spent another 1/2 hour or more BSing and finally closed the deal. Is that the kind of person who would double cross me? I sure as hell hoped not!

Well, this morning, I called George at the dealership and asked if everything was OK with the purchase and he said yes, yes and more yes! He said I was easily approved for the loan and he was even able to find me a slightly lower interest rate than the one he had initially quoted me! George then transferred me over to the Finance Manager, who needed conformation of some personal info. Again, sure sounds like a decent and honorable man to me!

Now when the topic of the RS popped up on 6Speed, I read the post with great interest and even ran across a reply or two that said watch out for this person and/or the dealership. This kind of comment is something that is heard over and over again in the automotive industry! Even now, when someone starts BSing me, I ask them if they used to be a 'Used Car Salesman'! Of course those couple of negative posts certainly threw up a red flag for me and I'm sure everyone else who might have had some interest in the Orange RS. I continued reading the posts and kept debating about whether or not I really wanted or needed the car.

I know from being in business myself, that unfortunately, sometimes rumors (not necessarily vindictive ones) can start and spread like wildfire. I'm assuming that the one that had made its way to me could have started with a person who honestly thought they were in the cat bird's seat as far as purchasing the RS.

I'm not pointing fingers at ANYBODY! I can only tell you the buying experience I had at the Herb Chambers' Porsche Dealership in Boston. I NEVER once had a uneasy feeling that I was dealing with anything but an honest, respectful, good faith and true to his word person named George Chambers! Maybe someone else did at one time BUT I didn't and that's all I kind report back to you.

I'm certainly glad the info I received turned out to be inaccurate because it would have freaked me out to lose the RS. I'm glad George and his father Herb, turned out to be stand-up gentlemen for me and now I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Orange GT3RS. Sorry for being long winded but I wanted to dispel the possibility of my purchase going the way of Hiroshima and blowing up in my face!

To the person who PMd me, thank you very much for your concern. I appreciate your interest in trying to protect me from a deal gone bad and I'm thankful to you for being a friend online.

To the rest of my friends here at RENNLIST, hopefully I'll be getting my RS very soon and will certainly do a candid review for all of you after I get some decent miles on her. Thanks for all the kudos on the RS and for being there when I needed info or just to pass the time of day with each other. Magwheel

p.s. I'll be posting this same story on a few other car web forums so please forgive me if you happen to run across it somewhere else! I just don't know how to change the info any better than I did here. Mags

p.s.s. Thanks again to George, Herb and Aaron at the dealership for treating me perfect!
