thanks for sharing.

brake reults are suprising. shorter distance for the heavier turbo. did the turbo have the cermaic brakes and gt3 steel brakes?

the turbo better braking (forwhatever reason) and more power on turn exit nudge the result in turbos favor.

0-99mph in 9.0 secs, so the 0-100 mph could be a 9.1-9.2 secs, in par with the 996 GT3.

what kind of tires were on both cars?

Translated from Italian on the top left side is "Maximum speed before breaking point", so brakes (Steel vs. Ceramics) and tires would make a difference. The article does not mention anything about type of tires or brakes used. Does not ID a magazine source.

Based on this data point, the turbo walks the 3 in a straight line and as fast/faster on a road course, and out brakes it too. Hmmmm......

I believe the new GT3 strikes a near perfect balance of fun and practicality. The Turbo is a very fast and practical car. But it is not as much fun to drive as the GT3.

Amen to that.

The GT3 had the special Pilot Sport Cups (as delivered on all GT3's - modified for better wet performance) and the Turbo had street tires. Turbo would've been significantly faster with the same tires as the GT3...

Or maybe the GT3 would have been significantly faster if it had the same street tires as the Turbo!!!

I wouldn't draw any hard conclusions based upon one (translated) test and an unknown driver. The Turbo may be faster, but let me see Walter's times to verify it!

It doesn't matter to me if the Turbo is faster, because it's less fun to drive. I own a sportscar to entertain myself, not to lap .5 seconds faster...

Nicely said, and I concur.

This is big IMO. I've got to think if the tires were same/same with turbo would have been +2 secs. If you can have the ease of use of a turbo and it's faster than GT3 it's tilts things to the turbo for me.

Not to nitpick, but I wonder if the brakes will stay under the turbo in hard running for say 30 minutes which is a non-issue with the GT3?
