Ordering GT3 RS, PCCB or no?
#16
I had a 997 C2S with steel brakes/standard susp followed by C2S with ceramics/sports suspension.
Had a week's overlap to able to back to back over my favourite roads.
The ceramic car was massively better round the bends, more precise and pointy. Partly the suspension but I now believe Porsche when they cite handling benefits from the lighter brakes.
Also brake pedal feel much better - the ceramics almost sensual.
Plus look better with right wheels (wouldn't want orange/black wheels since 'hide' the otherwise eyecatchingly large brakes).
And no brake dust as such.

Related question, is there a steel brake replacement for the 997 GT3 as there were with the 996 cars?
The thought would be to order PCCBs and if they fail, you'd have the ability to go with steel.

997 RSR has 380mm steel rotors
997 Cup cars have 380mm PCCB
Both cars are fitted with 18" wheels
Sounds like 18"wheels can be fitted to a GT3 w/380mm brakes, that opens up a whole lot of tire choices.

Spec'ing the car today. Sticking with steel rotors. Will apply saved money toward a 68 911R replica project.
I have no doubt the PCCB delivers a better overall braking perfomance, but the incremental improvement couple with possible longevity issue at extra cost pushes me to stick with the steel rotors. I assume relative to other brakes the stock steel rotors are already an amazing set up.
