PCCB question
I'm not yet decided on the PCCB option for my GT3. Besides the weight advantage, how else are ceramic breaks superior to steel? Does anyone have answers to the following, based on personal knowledge or experience with the 996 GT3?
1. Do they stop shorter?
2. Do they have less fade?
3. Do they last longer?

1: NO
2:yes
3: Pads no Rotors yes
Rotors are $5100+ each pads $360 front
My rears look like new with 40,000 miles Front has gen II and they are going strong.
If I was ordering a car I would get irons and repllace the rotors with racing floating hats

The 996 had Gen1 which had issues with rotor reliability/
In MY '05 Gen2 was released on the 997, I have yet to hear or read of any issues with them.
The MY07 TT and GT3 are now termed "Enhanced Porsche Ceramic Porsche Ceramic
Composite Brake" have rotors that are larger14.96 inches in diameter and have a different drilling pattern than the previous Gen2 version.
Having driven the 997 on track I will say that they are phenominal, a rock solid pedal feel and incredible initial bite.
1. Do they stop shorter?
Not really, the tire is the limiting factor
2. Do they have less fade?
Zero fade time after time, very consistant
3. Do they last longer?
They don't make those claims anymore.
I have seen PCCB with 8,000 track miles and the rotors looked new, only pad replacement.

Time: The nonfriction surface of the rotor is the hat. Look at your rotors, the rotor is a single piece. A floating hat is a two piece. The friction surface is bolted on to the hat. This is much lighter then a stock iron. Go to the Brembo weebsite. The or someone esle can do a better job explaining.
