Moogle (Rennlister) has number and the hood on his car. See the thread on the GT3/GT2 forum where he was hunting for the little Porsche decal for the hood. Me thinks it is very expensive, the RS wing cost was bad enough but it is a beautiful light weight component.

Gert @ carnewal.com carries both the RS hood and Decal -
(996)

The hood is about 3500USD becuase it is made from carbon fiber - clear underneath and pre-primered on top.

Your best bet is to buy them from carnewal.com because ordering from a dealer is an inventory / logistics crapshoot.

Don't forget to order the special gas struts - they have a different weight pressure becuase the hood weighs less.

OEM Part numbers:

RS Carbon Hood: 996 511 011 91 (G2X Prime Coated) ($3400~)
Special Gas Struts: 996 511 011 91 ($200~ Each)
Decal - Only place to order is Carnewal.com - not listed in PET catalog.

Cheers!

Official Porsche 996 GT3 Time: 7:54 (Street Tires Michelin Pilot PS2)
Fastest Porsche 996 GT3 Time: 7:49 (AutoBild, Street Tires Michelin Pilot PS2)
Manthey Racing MM410 996 GT3: 7:41 (on Dunlop R-comp SSR tires 245/285)
Official Porsche 996 GT3 RS Time: 7:43 (on Pirelli R-Comp Corsa System tires)

This is what I suppose could happen:

I typically shave more than 1 second on a 60 secs track by running Michelin Pilot Sport Cups or Toyo RA1, compared to MPS2. If a similar time can be saved at the Ring, the MPSC should be good for 8 seconds time reduction. Remember what BMW pulled between the E46 M3 and the E46 M3 CSL by running the CSL on MPSC.

Using the stock 996 GT3 as a baseline, the car could run 7:41 on MPSC, matching the MM410 because that car ran the crappy Dunlop SSR.

My projection is that the plain jane Euro 997 GT3 should be 0.5 secs faster than the Euro 996 GT3 on a 60 secs course, due to the additional power, more rubber to the ground, a little bit shorter gears (Remember the rear tire diameter went up 1"), and the extra weigth. So the 997 GT3 should be capable of running 7:37 on MPSC.

The 996 GT3 RS had power and suspension upgrades over the 996 GT3 RS. For the 997 series, the only documented differences in the suspension are the 2-pieces rear control arm (no performance effect), and a wider track by 34mm. The only documented power advantage resides on the LWFW.

Given that the Euro 997 GT3 RS will be lighter by 44 lbs, stiffer due to the rollbar, it will need to be 0.25 secs faster than the 997 GT3 on a 60 secs course (0.75 secs faster than the 996 GT3), to achieve the 7:35. Pretty possible.

BTW, the 7.35 time came from my P-dealer. He is an RS man. Own a 996 and is upgrading to 997. So pretty good source.
