Default Yokohama Advan AD09

Any feedback on the AD09 tyres, I'm asking as I am thinking of running a 325/30 19 on a 12" and 245/35 on 9" and wondered how they compare to Michelin especially the width as I think for my set up (narrow body 997, not GT ) I will have limited room at the rear.

How do they grip ?
How do they compare for fitment ?
any pictures of them fitted on an RS ?

Tks

i ran them for about 3k miles on my gt4 before it got destroyed. almost all of that was in the mountains. they were ok. i never got a chance to properly put them through a track run though. for street/canyon they seemed to get a but more greasy than my prior ps4s when pushed hard for an entire tank of gas. i know not the most scientific measure. beat the snot out of the car gas tank to gas tank for 4-5 days a trip, break for lunch, repeat in the afternoon. they did seem to have much better grip than the ps4s up until the point they got greasy. wish i had a chance to push them on the track. i would probably give them another shot with the next car.

PS4S >> AD09. Actually AD09 aren't very good at all. I did not find them to have as good of grip as ps4s and the ride was harsh. On a positive note, turn in was nice and sharp, but you paid the price on ride. I dumped them early and went to ps4s.

Edit: Ignore me, I'm an idiot. I mixed AD09 up with AD08's. Comments apply to AD08's, hence the street tire discussion.

I have used them on my 996 gt3, both street and track, and would echo above. Was really hoping they would be close to the A052 with more tread depth, but I have been disappointed.

Have to ask, why so wide in the rear on a NB? Maybe going down a size or two would open up some more options. 325 seems like overkill on a NB even on 12".

I'm running 305/30 19 on 12" rims and they look a little too stretched and do seem very stiff sidewall, so running quite low pressures (33R/31F) to manage this, so was wondering about the AD09 as seems to get good press but looking at the Michelins I think they will be too wide, I have seen these on a 12.5 and thet look like they wouldn't bulge on a 12" like the Michelins do

I could think about 315/30 MPS4S but I just havent been a fan of that tyre on other cars (steering feel very slow)

If your 305 is looking stretched for young you don't like the looks, get a set of Cup2's, if your driving permits that. Make sure your Cup 2's are N spec as those don't have the rim protection bead and that bead is what give that stretched look that many don't like.

305/30/19 Michelin Cup 2, N Spec on a 12" wheel.

Yea, if you didn't have that rim protection bead on there it wouldn't look as stretched.

they very noticeably harsher than ps4s when cold. Once heated up a bit it wasn’t as bad

I am running AD09 currently and think they feel great. I have other wheels with Cup2 and they are unbeatable in terms of ride quality because the sidewalls are so soft. The AD09 seem to have comparable grip to the cup2 though I havent tracked on them yet, just some mountain runs. I would pick them over a PS4S for sure. Hopefully Yokohama makes a A052 in 325/30/19 soon.

Interesting, I believe the Continental 7's have pretty stiff sidewalls. I hadn't realised Cup2 had soft sidewalls, maybe they would be better on the road (if you drive carefully in the cold and wet)

I'm not sure it makes sense to compare the AD09 to the PS4S... the Yokos are 200TW track tires. I would expect the PS4S to blow it out of the water on the street, but HPDE might be a different story. The Michelin outer tread gets shredded with track use.

Agree - we should of course expect the PS4S to feel better on the street

That said, the A052 is a far better track tire amongst the Yokos than the AD09 - and is incredibly docile on the street too. My favourite street / track tire by far, but wear is too fast

i was hoping they would be a reasonable hybrid street - track option giving up some street comfort for better track longevity.

I'm interested in this tire as well. There's not too much info out there, but I did find this video:
