Default 997.2 Front Strut Top Mounts - servicable?

Have an incoming GT3 - The PPI noted grinding noise from the front Strut top mounts

Has anyone had success greasing the bearings/bushings / servicing these parts?

I'm thinking they may have seized up in the winter from lack of use.

The mounts are on back order and the car won't get here for a few weeks anyway, so trying to decide if I order the mounts or consider trying to service them first.

Much apprecited!

I would probably order the parts. IF they are actually grinding they are probably pretty well damaged and grease probably won't fix you up. I had mine out to "flip" them to get some more camber, and I did try to add some grease to them. They seemed a little looser than I expected, and they are on my list for eventual replacement. Car has 31k miles on it.

Thanks, yeah this car is 29k miles so similar.

The Porsche tech said he heard some noise when turning the wheel. The car had 11 year old tires on... Maybe they're just a bit stiff, like when I try get up off the couch! Ha!

We will see I guess. Porsche wants $800 per side for these top mounts. FCP not much better at $600 a side. Pretty spicy for a fairly basic part...Did you come across any interesting alternatives/upgrades or sticking with OEM?

Having thought about it, I might hang on until I have the car in hand and give it a proper look over. If the shocks are in any way worn, this could snow ball in to new shocks to go along with the top mounts and then you start asking yourself, do you go for coilovers and camber plates etc or stick to OEM

Do you know the part numbers. I have two here at the house that I don't need.

im able to get all the camber I need on the stock parts, and it’s essentially already a Motorsport part with the solid bearing. There isn’t any function that I would be looking for in an aftermarket part. I tend to keep the GT3 stock except in rare cases, because it was so well thought out for street and track. The only mods on my car is the final drive gears from the RS and an exhaust.

If anyone else is looking for a set of top mounts, I have a 996 and a 997 one in gray condition. From wha I understand they are interchangeable until you decide to rotate for more camber. If not rotating, a good way to save some cash as I want these out of my garage.
