Default 997.1 GT3 Gear Oil Recommendations

Curious to learn the group's current preference for a 997.1 GT3's gear oil.

Owner's manual states Mobilube PTX 75/90 but that's older technology.

An older post indicates a preference for Mobil Delvac but that doesn't have friction modifier.

Mobil 1's level-II tech recommends Mobil 1 Syn Gear 75/90 Oil (P/N 104361). However, I'm also seeing what appears to be the same product listed as P/N 1043611 (two 1's) and can't see any difference.

I don't track my car but still want the good stuff (or course).

I’ve had good results improving cold shifting smoothness using Motul Gear 300 75w-90. Its viscosity is similar to the Mobilube PTX when cold.

the Delvac is much thicker when cold.
Redline MT-90 might also be worth trying as well since its viscosity range is similar to the PTX.

Appreciate your reply and chart. Did you use the Motul Gear 300-LS variant?

I use the regular version. I remember reading some discussions here where GTgears specifically did not recommend the LS version. I’ll have to dig up the threads.

No Problem. Made the bus ride back from work a little more fun.

I used to run Delvac because it's cheaper to change every event. I've since switched to Motul and run both 90 and 140 depending on the time of year. The Motul requires frequent changes.

Did you notice any wear, shifting performance, or oil life differences between the 90 and the 140?
I tend to change it out every 1-2years.

I don't leave the gear oils in long enough, depending on the driving anywhere from one weekend event to a few weekend events. My 2nd gear synchro has had issues since I've owned the car, double clutching has allowed me to work around it. But my subjective butt dyno says the 140 feels better with my driving style in California heat.
