Am I the last crazy guy to still drive the 4.0 on track in 2023 ?

I'm so in that it's not even funny. Speed District has a Wednesday, Oct 4th track day at Buttonwillow (weekday track days are perfect for me because I'm a realtor as weekends are tough for me to go tracking nowadays). If we can organize a private track day mid-week that would be great too, maybe I'll talk to Betim to see if he can organize it. I'm gonna see if my buddy will come out with me so he can drive up my GT4RS and I'll drive up the 4.0 so I can track both.

I might even make the trip from Arizona with my 996! Let's do it! Although you guys would need to promise not to make fun of me (I'm such a conservative track driver its not even funny...I get dusted by much lesser cars because I just enjoy being out there and never really feel the need to flog it like crazy. I have no problem redlining at every shift but I'm not the type to let the rpms hang up high in every corner in order to be in the meet of the torque band on exit or aggressively downshift at high rpms!).

I rarely do weekday events (sometime Fridays open sessions) and I also think it may be more challenging for others. What I have been enjoying are Sundays. All of the Saturday crowd is gone and usually only the devoted/real drivers stay. I'm down for a private event, but most weekends are already booked for BW unless you convince a organizer to host for you. Either way a Mezger only run group would be freakin awesome (996 and 997) ripping around would be a sight like none other. I don't want no cheater cars in the run group and only want to run CW13, the photos would be sick hehe.

I’d be down for bringing the RS out of track retirement. It’s setup as the day I took it off the track, fresh tires and all.
Josh will let you buy out a run group on one of his days, at least I’ve done that before when we didn’t have enough cars for a private day. Last one I did was with BBI we bought out a run group. Buttonwillow is pretty expensive all in for a private day, it was about $15k last time I did it and I’m sure it’s more now (this was 3+ years ago). Chuckwalla was about 1/2 the price. Remember you need track, insurance, emergency service, corner workers, etc.

CJ is in the process of setting up a private mid-week track day at Buttonwillow in the fall/winter.

Count me in for BW in the fall/winter. A few of the PNW guys are going to store our cars in CA for the winter just for the tracks.

Button willow just before the pandemic. Just bought it and got it out three times before the world hiccuped.
