tbh thought I would have gone a tad quicker. I’m always fastest first session and it rained the night before so was super wet until about 10-11am. But ran 4 - 1:56 laps in a row all within .3 seconds so that was good.

hahah no. Some got muddy but nobody stuck luckily.
I got stung by a ****ing bee in the ear 🤣. 4 of them on my car at once They love the yellow! 🐝

Oh man a few years back @usctrojanGT3 puts his helmet on and there was a bee in there stung him. I never seen him move so fast getting that thing off his head. I think it was buttonwillow LOL.

The mud pits there are insane after rain. Those early morning runs are quick, for me it was always run 2, but when it rains the track needs to get cleaned/rubbered up again.

Watched the tow truck pull a car out and rip off front and rear bumpers in process LOL. poor bastard. he was in deep, tow guy stands 20-30 ft away, tell him, get out, hook it up, i'm not going in the pit. so the guy is knee deep in mud, hahaha... bad day. so when i saw mud there, mental blocks made me super slow

156 is quick, which tires are you using now? old day nt01 997gt were in that 155-158 range...

What the heck is going on with those tires? I am planning to grab a set of the Nankang CR-S tires for this Spring/Summer season. I am running them on 18” Fikse’s though. They do have them in some 19” sizes, but not a ton of options.

I must ask, how was your experience with the GT350R? I can't help but continue looking at them. They seem like the "American GT3".

I don’t keep cars long typically 6-12 months. This I sold in 3 months. Motor is a riot. I love the looks. Great on the street. But the cars I’ve kept the longest were my 964, 993, 996gt3, viper then m3. I like the feel of a lot of steering feedback and smaller cars. So that made me not love it. Feels bigger and heavier. So didn’t love it. But I did enjoy it on the street but not on track or canyon drives

I noticed the E9X M3 trend there. I’ve got an E60 M5 currently that I want to love but it’s just not doing it for me.

I hear you. Great motor but too big.
E9x is def more playful but needs good coilovers to be fun.

Mine is the SMG but is being manual converted.

I love the subtly aggressive look of the car, think the S85 V10 is one of the best engines of all time, but my God I've never seen such a temperamental, needy machine. Things seem to fail or break more often than any other car I've owned, weird issues crop up, and parts are expensive. My 996 C4S and Jag XJR haven't needed a quarter of the money I've spent on the M5 at this point. Sooner or later you start to ask yourself why you're pumping this kind of money into a 14 year old BMW. But every time I look at it in the driveway, I want to hang on to it.

I'm working towards a 997 GT3, and at this point I'd probably get there quicker by ceasing to spend so much money on the thing.

I had this same experience with my last E63 M6. I had a Dinan 2008 M5 years ago, and it never had any issues in my ownership. I performed preventive/regular maintenance on the car, and daily drove the crap out of it. Years later I grabbed a deal on a E63 M6, and it was the car from hell. I had to replace nearly everything on the car in 2-3 years of ownership. I finally got the car dialed in and stable, and I punted it fast. The sound of those motors ripping at freeway plus speeds with a proper exhaust system is amazing. They pull like freight trains over 100mph. As they age they do have a lot of electrical issues, rod bearings, SMG pumps, etc.

I laughed out loud at this line, because I've said basically the exact same to my buddy about my car. Its hard to believe in two years of ownership, I'm just now reaching a point where I might could say it doesn't really need anything. It's currently at a shop getting an alignment, and I just want to get it home quickly so I can take photos of it and post it for sale before anything else breaks. Really though, I've only had one experience of being stranded with it. Nothing else has really "broken". It's just been a lot of going in to replace only A for $500, but then finding B, C, and D are all shot or about to be shot. The simple, $500 repair then turns into $3k.

The tough thing though is once you get this far in, you start questioning if it really makes sense to sell now after replacing/repairing so much. It's literally like holding onto a sinking stock assuming it's going to turn positive.

Agreed though, they pull like tanks when they're up to speed. It's almost as if they pull harder the faster they go. When you're in full M mode, the steering livens up, and the thing is revving to 8500 pulling like a train, its unbelievable that it's a four door sedan.
