just had the 2RS detailed and a new full Xpel clear wrap installed then did a road trip over to the Dolomites.
Spectacular vehicle in every sense. Equally at home on the mountain passes and also cruising on the autobahn. One of Porsches finest.
Very much under appreciated (by the masses) and currently an undervalued vehicle (i believe) in the marketplace. Porsche made 100 less of these than the RS 4.0 litre. In time I think the values will appreciate.
Two fixed tickets in a short ownership period = too fast to keep long term and stay out of jail. But wow was that woosh unreal in 2nd: floor it, hang on and get ready to shift before you bounce off the rev limiter. 1st: forget it; as soon as boost kicks, SHIFT! 3rd: whoosh = jail time if po po nearby. That is my review of 7-2rs. Oh with the exception that when not chasing a hit on thr boost crack pipe, it was the best, most well mannered road car out of the entire 997 GT lineup between suspension, clutch and overall drivability.

oddly I think that the reason is under appreciated is partly due to how rare it is… if you saw a 2RS on the road most young ppl would think “weird is a gt2 like a lesser gt3?”.
But when they see GT3 they think “hey that’s that Porsche race car”
IMO when history tells its story a 2RS value it will exceed the 4.0

I can definitely see this happening - those who know will know. I've witnessed numerous instances where guys will bat an eye at a GT2 when they see the side vents as they immediately think it's a TT with a kit. Then you have the crowd that will argue in favor of a high strung NA GT3 as opposed to forced induction with the GT2, not appreciating the car really for what it is but just for the sake of arguing. I would trade in my 3RS for a 2 all day!
Europe fuel prices have always been higher than the states. That's why registration is based on engine size. They are into saving fuel and keeping the noise level down, while at the same time keeping al the best cars for themselves, LOL.
100 RON is about a 93 octane in the United States. Maybe they don't put ethanol in it though.
You (young) guys need to keep the flame going!!! Post some pictures...keep this going. I also owned 2 996 GT2, one new 2003-2017(?) and another 2017-2021
I think that Toby is the only one of us who bought new and still owns his car.
Be safe!
In-state road trip; 2010 back then there was water in the lakes!!! Owned this car from 2008-2011 and put 6k-7K track miles only. I was fearless! (Miller and RA). Car sold and went to Eastern Europe, have not heard it being back.
Road America post track day 2009; no crashie!!
In state road trip; 2017? We still had water! Owned this car ~2012 - 2021; totally lost interest in tracking a GT2. Became Mr. Chicken workie guy! This car has sold 3-4 times this past year!!!
Road America; no track day! Too much work, no time, lost the fire and fear grew!! Got a speeding ticket from Mr. WI officer. They love out of state plates.
My 2011 GT2RS; OK, the owner is a friend and on RL, he can post pictures of his car. Owned a distinctive 2011 GT2RS with a fully optioned Dolly Parton interior. From 2012-2020. thanks @Mooty!
OK, I do have a soft spot for Yugos! My college friend (a girl but not girlfriend) had a decent Beetle which I kept running, NP! Her dad decided to upgrade her and sold her Beetle for $500 and for her 20th. b-day bought her a new car; a new 1986(?) Yugo, $3,999. That sucker never-ever ran properly. And you could not get parts. I worked on that car and it was crude piece of machinery.
