I am having clunking sounds from the front on my 997 gt3. Appears to be only when warm after a period of driving. I even hear if after I stop sometimes.
Heres a link to similar sound. Any thoughts?

ok,
1. Hav you tried duplicating the sound with the clutch pedal pushed in? I know you say it's from the front, just checking.
2. Have you crawled under the car yet?
Seeing as the sound is coming from the car even when it's stationary I want to rule out the sway bar bushings, end links, and shock top mounts.. What else is left except fo the steering rack, which does have fluid running through it when the motor is running and that's something that could change when the car warms up as the fluids gets hot.
If it were me, I'd lift the car on and support on jack stands, and then lift the car with the wheels not supported. Insepct both ways. Start grabbing parts and trying to move them to look foe any play. After that, a steering fluid level check and flush is in order. Maybe look at the first as it's easy to check fluid level.
Keep the forum posted.

I will check today if I get the sound with the clutch pressed in. The car was just serviced at porsche center 1 week ago, new brake fluid, and they told me they checked the front suspension etc.
The sound showed up after som hard driving/braking in the days after last service. Only appear after longer drive. No sound at all on the 30 min drive i had yesterday.
I have not been under the car. I will try to place a camera under the car when driving slow on a carpark

+1 on front shock top mounts. Torquing those to spec solved my front end noise issue.

Ok after listening to your videos again I realized that it's making the sound when the steering wheel moves regardless if the car is moving or not. Didn't realize that the steering wheel was moving when I first watched the second video. You don't have to do the clutch thingy. It's not that. I'm going to go with either your shock top mounts need to be tightened or replaced or your sway bar bushings or end links are in need of replacement or tightening. By the sound of it though, sounds like strut mounts.

I had the same sound. I agree with the shock top mount. One way to tell (kinda unorthodox), is I was so p!ssed off one day, I put tri-flo bike chain lube in there. It has never come back. Long trips. Short trips. Canyons. Commuting. Problem solved, or at least I know what it was now. It was driving me nuts because no one could figure out why it only happened after the car got up to temp and etc.

Thanks guys. Yesterday I went for a 2 hour drive to try get the sound and record it. But I only heard it one time at the end of the trip while going in to the garage. It was 2 hours with both highway and B-roads 80-120kmh. The climate is colder here where I am now(norway)
The annoying rattling sounds first came after driving hours on highways in Germany with higher avarage speed on our way home. And the temperature were 10 degrees higher at that time.
Should I just wait to see if it get worse?

Remove the plastic covers and tighten the center nut without spinning the shock shaft. It should be fairly obvious what needs to be done when you get eyes on the center nut. You can hold the shaft in place with a hex or torx socket, don't recall which. Maybe someone can chime in with the torque spec for the top nut. It's not much. Just snug it.

Much easier with a thru socket.

Yesterday I had a longer trip and the sound came back after a few hours. No need to turn or brake. Its constantly there after some time. In speeds up to 50kmh then I think engine/road noise are too loud.

Your dampers are bad. Replace them. That sound is the dampers.
