Interestingly enough, US spec passenger seats sit about 3/4” higher due to the AWS. Both driver’s seats are the same height.
ROW spec seat on the left, US spec on the right — the seat rails are different.
Those look nice and the heated option is great...the airbag sensor light is kinda dumb anyway, if I put a piece of paper on the passenger seat it goes on lol. The 997 can still be coded out with a durametric... I remember also somewhere that people that make config for the Cobb tuner like Dundon can also do it, 2015< I think you cant code out airbags anymore?
ROW seats trigger an error code (I can't remember which one), but it has to do with the airbag. You still get full functionality of the airbag with the ROW seats. My local tech is the former lead tech at my local Porsche dealer. He has the PIWIS and was able to disable the passenger sensor so it doesn't throw a code. Anyone who buys ROW seats will need to have the same thing done.

Weird. Both of those are 997? I must be mixed up and thought the 991 seat was an issue, but that was changing plugs. I never heard of any 997 ROW seat sensors being sold by themselves or used when I was thinking of buying them.
I suspect the reason you can’t find a Passenger seat is because the US spec passenger seat rail that houses the airbag weight sensors (AWS) is no longer available. I’ve been trying for a year to find a US seat rail and the sensors to convert a set of ROW seats to US spec. If any race shops are reading this and have one one their shelf, PM me!

Part of configuring the AWS for the a seat in PIWIS has you placing a 40kg weight in the seat to calibrate the sensor. Something might not be right if it’s triggering at a light touch.
Yup… Busta has this right. You can code out the AWS sensor easily. The airbags will always be active regardless if someone is sitting in the seat or not.

991 gt2 row seats
I just ordered the 991 gt2 seats from Carnewal.
seems like the best option for 10 k including shipping and insurance. Attached is from Carnewal had to say about putting them in 997.
🤞

I may be returning my 2004 996 to stock and removing the GT3 Euro buckets and a few other key mods.
Hit me up if you havent located a set yet.

*Edit: never mind. The interior side of the passenger seat rail looks exactly like the ROW pic posted by Body In White. I never realized there was a difference until now.
Hmm. My 991 ROW passenger seat rails look exactly like the US-spec 997 seat rails.

I have 3 sets, and one set of the euros. I'll take photos when I get back in town, but I have no use for them anymore. Most of my time is spent in the air now, so cars have taken a back seat.
