Great thread! Appreciated all the details on 7.2 GT3 ownership as I’m looking to upgrade from my 7.2 C4GTS. I also went overboard with preventive maintenance so not looking forward to the $10k bill once I eventually pick up the GT3.

Re-Bumping this thread...

@NSXavier .. you replied once (post # 16) on Dec 27th, and said you were going to sleep on it.

I very much enjoyed the conversation in this thread ^^^ ... and now wondering where it led you ....

I didn't know many or any people actually enjoyed the thread. I wanted to avoid bumping it as it might have been seen as annoying seeing it on the front page of the GT2/3 Tech forums. Anyway, after considering and re considering and trying to find local ones to drive with no success; I was able to take the Turbo out for a spin during a pocket of good weather that we had in the area. I have since realized that I can't move away from the TURBO, as I have been in one since 2018 and it is the car that got my feet wet with PORSCHE and taught me a lot about the 997 platform / MEZGER engine. Trading it up for another car just didn't sit well with me. I have been through a lot with the current car I own and I'm one of those types that gets sentimental and attached to cars. I can't see myself letting it go. It's just too good and I've poured a lot of labor and money into making it right and reliable along with unique and tailor fit for me.

With that being said, the allure of a naturally aspirated MEZGER 7.1 / .2 car is still very much there. I might be far off from this little personal goal of mine, but I feel like the right move would be to hold onto my Turbo, and when the time is right and I am in a far more financially comfortable place in life, add at GT3 to the family. I know that values will continue to rise, and my window of opportunity to actually buy one for a reasonable price may become too large which would actually price me out of the car, but I say let the chips fall where they may. If it happens, it happens. If not, life is not all bad when you own any P car. 997 Turbo for that matter.

Thanks everyone who commented on this thread. It really helped out a lot even though I've only responded to it twice.

@NSXavier totally agree with your assessment. Fun to see everyone jump in with their perspectives. This hobby is never ending and you already own one of the finest cars ever made. Enjoy it!

I'm really glad to hear the news that you're keeping the Turbo NSXavier ... That car is awesome & you will be VERY happy you kept it,.. with hopes of adding a NA car in the future. That's exactly what happened to my wife &I with our '91 964 Turbo (going on 18 yrs ownership now). We have sooo many memories with the kids & that car, the PCA club in that car,... and like you said, poured so much time effort & funds into it,.. we just could not see selling it to buy the GT3. So we bit the bullet 3 yrs ago & bought the 997. LOVE having both now.

... and I wouldn't fret about future prices of a 997 GT3,... like many of us, your future earnings going up -vs- expenditures going down (once our kids finished college it was soooo much easier),.... will probably lend itself to adding another car to your stable, regardless of prices at that time.
