I can drive fine in anything but dress shoes....having said that I do feel more comfortable in ‘Nike Free’ especially Flyknit - basically the thinner the better.

My flip flops don’t work well for heel toe. To wide and I usually end up grabbing more revs than needed.

most other shoes that are more contoured are fine.

Have a few pairs of Puma Speed Cats. First pair from 2011 is just as fresh as some new ones I got in 2020 (up to 6 pairs now. I need different colors don't judge, lol). Look good, subtle, comfortable, and not too expensive. I'd give the nod to Piloti, but those are much pricier. On the street though, anything but sandals should be fine.
