Got it. Sounds like it would have to a special clearance case from Porsche Int. to allow it (I'd assume such if one needed it really, really badly). Maybe they figured you had a good one already...
I didn't know you got rid of the other .2rs. Must have been tough to let go or it went to a very good friend in case you wanted it back. Figured one for you and one for the Mrs...

Passed, in WA state. Simple OBDII plug in check, no tail pipe sniffing. As long as you are not throwing a code, should pass. EVoms Tune, w/full Dundon catless exhaust.

The inspection starts yesterday as indicated below, using the ECU Checksums. Up until this point if all your smog indicators were active and set cleared, and, no CEL, you'd pass.
Now, they are comparing the ECU checksum with known database of values. So, firmware released with car = ABC. The checksum creates a value of 123. The DMV computer looks at a database of the VIN, and expects to see a value of "123". I can only assume this creates an interesting burden on the auto makers to supply these values, probably related to their smog certifications...
"MY" (and this could be wrong) understanding of this is that this operates similar to say, an MD5 checksum. That is, it's calculated by the ECU. So if the firmware file itself is modified in any way, the checksum will not be the same. Now, given firmware can be hacked, it would be interesting to know if the checksum they will look at if that field is even editable, or, if it's calculated at startup by the ECU. Should be interesting. But, its software, and where there is a will there is a way.
I know a couple ECU tuners (meaning, they hack the software/hardware, not just program values) I'll reach out and ask them their thoughts on this...

Thanks Syprex. I'm safe for 2 years but time flies and I know I'll be in this predicament in no time. Glad I got in before the doors closed. I didn't even know it was happening.

Sucks. When BAR started this they were cagey about if/when it would be applied to which cars. Seems like the game is up for anyone without something like a Cobb that can easily flash back to stock.

Is your exhaust modified… if it’s just a tune does Evoms not let you flash it back and then do a drive cycle?

See this thread for my open questions about why this might be so.
P.S. I should note that this is a 996 tt, not a 997tt or GT car, but I saw this thread when searching around for answers to these failures and since the two are close, I thought it would be relevant to warn folks. Surely if they're checking for 996 ECU mods, they'lll be checking for 997 as well at this point.

I attempted to reflash and go back for another try, but that failed. Before I went, I checked for all emission tests ready using Durametric, and it was happy right away (no drive test needed) - odd. I ran a reset on fault codes; there weren't any, but I told it to reset anyway hoping to trigger the emissions monitors to unready themselves, but they didn't. When I got to the shop, the tech warned me that the EVAP monitor wasn't appearing at all. Turns out it was all of the interesting monitors (catalyst, heated catalyst, etc.) that had gone missing.
See this thread for my open questions about why this might be so.

Looking at your other thread I, don’t want to be oversimplify but your readout looks text book drive cycle. It says you tried to get them to ready by driving a lot. If your not intentionally trying to set them with an extremely strict drive cycle it can take thousands of miles of regular driving.. once it it took 3500 of mixed miles for everything to set for me.
If your flash messed up your computer as your tech implied your car wouldn’t even know what O2 mix to use, the other sensors would be off etc and you’d have an engine light.
