Some software retains the ECUID/checksum and can pass. I know friends who have done it on other cars. The big question is how does EVO MS modify the map. Also, can they restore the original ECU file in it's entirety or just the stock tables to their modified map.
You’d have to call them. Legality aside, not all tuners will override the sum. Some and some don’t on the same platform probably for liability sake. I haven’t had the need to worry about sums for sometime registering in a state that cares about other things.
either way, you probably don’t want to make it to a REF or STAR as the reaming really starts.
As of right now it does pass, I just went through a smog on a Turbo S with EVT700 and went to a star (test only) station.
Talking with evoms preparing for the smog, removing akropovic w/100cell cats and purchased a new DME (being concerned with cheksum), however the dealer could not program as there piwis is no longer compatible due to the updates for Taycan. I was concerned I would be out of luck so called evom and he said the checksum is not changed and all o2s are active. Passed with flying colors EVT700, IPD plenum and Y, Champion IC's, with stock exhaust/cats.
My other GT3RS's that had evom tunes have been sold, I am down to a bone stock .2 RS and .2 Turbo S.
That DME should still be of use. Would not an outside shop be able to program? Most have the tool, but don’t update or keep different versions of the same kind. I probably also wouldn’t sell anytime soon as that will become money
Still have it new in box, last one pcna had for 997.2 turbo. It has to be fully programmed down to the key/vin/base file from the homeland, not sure if a third party can do it.

You have Cobb on your GSR or other flash?
EVOFlash on mine. Passed with all tables except injector scaling stock. ECU checksum and readiness monitors all per stock. EVO’s are flagged by CA some strange reason by the state as high risk for modification lol
Got it. So no E85. Maybe I confused you with another. Got to hand it to Mitsu. They made some good ones. Miss mine as well as posted a bit on EvoM under the same handle.
