the gap on the ngk is a bit bigger though (.035") to .031" on the y5ddc. Not sure if you mentioned that previously apologize if you did.

Takes patience to read through all of it-NGK's site already confirmed the plug, but not the Platinum version. Probably because Porsche never required a platinum version. The Ferrari 458 also seemed to come with standard NGKR plugs, but a platinum version is sold for it

Bringing this back for 2022 (and a 997.2 GT3) as I am going to be changing my plugs soon and it seems like NGKs are the go to here?
Bosch website lists the FGR4NQE04 as the plug but sounds like that was disproven earlier.
Suncoast has the oem branded spark plug set for $169
FVD has two but both seem to be for cup cars and have eye popping prices - a Y5DDC variant (999 170 129 90) and NGK (991 602 201 8A)
FCP only has a Denso 3179 (sounded like not a favorite here)
ECS seems to have Bosch (99917012990) and Porsche with the same number which ultimately reference the Y5DDC with the Bosch one backordered but the Porsche one shipping in a week or so.
Thoughts from anyone who has tried or done this recently and what their results / impressions were

I'd try to find the matching Bosch even though they're practically the same, but with different tip and color
At this point, NGK is really the way to go. Bosch Y5DDC is no longer made, why bother paying insane dealer prices for the leftover ones in Porsche boxes? And I just got NGKs for my Audi S3-it's what they come with, not Bosch.
I posted links either on this or another fairly recent thread for the NGK and they were less than $10, right now $6.75 on Rock Auto.
The problem now is parts online are not listing the NGKs when you search, many like FCP offer the Denso and didn't bother to list other options, namely the best replacement, the NGK.

i recently changed spark plugs and the shop installed NGK DCPR7EIX. they're experienced with our cars and should know what they're doing. going through the thread, it seems my plugs are listed as one of the oem alternatives, but they're not listed as compatible on NGK's website. been running them for a few months and everything seems fine. should i keep running these? or go for DCPR8EKC? also, any updates on the platinum version? Thanks!

Bringing this back because apparently the y5ddc plugs are making a comeback. I've seen on a few websites part dealers claiming they will be getting the plugs back in stock. I've spoken with a few of them regarding whether this is a limited run or that these are being mass produced. They were unsure so I called Bosch and am waiting to hear back from their parts dept. I will post again with my findings. If this is a limited run, I am definitely going to buy a set just to have.
Edit: bosch called me back and the rep said he does not see anything about them coming back. So he is unsure where that info I heard is coming from. It was ECS tuning for anyone interested; claims June 14th. I'm going to monitor it but I tend to believe the rep at bosch over the rep I spoke with at ECS. It is possible someone else at bosch told him though according to the person I spoke with.

When the plugs became obsolete and production was discontinued, I spoke to the Bosch US Rep on the phone, and he said they are now extinct.
I can't image what the problem is using NGKs. All Ferraris use them, and even FVD has the weird looking racing ones, which cost about $100 each
I posted on post #34 about the other info on available plugs including the Brisk ones-NGK is the way to go-
