I should know better than to try to have some bar stool fun ... but on a keyboard. It just doesn't come across as well as I hoped.
Sorry to have bothered you guys. I'll shut up now.
We're ALL good my friend, trust me, I was really putting my feelings out there and I'm not taking anything here too seriously

Keep it coming! And BTW, I wish we were closer to each other where we could actually do all this face to face, AT a bar!!!

We need more light-hearted banter here. Don't apologize, or give up.

Steve: Your a great contributor to the forum. You need thicker skin like me. After years in the 991RS forum and an an occasional dip in the acid bath that is the McLaren Success thread over there… this is my skin today.

This sub forum is like Candy land compared to those battlefields.

It’s hard for me to articulate why I prefer the RS. Well ok I just love the in your face appearance and don’t care if some thinks I’m a boy racer pretender because, well in that sense I’m not. And I who cares what anyone else thinks??? Not moi. I don’t buy what I buy to make anyone happy except one guy. Me.

We all buy what we buy because it suits us and stirs our soul as a friend of mine said. There is no “better” or “best” in that regard on an individual level.

On a market level, that’s different.

Come on people..Tell me, what Porsche guy could not love this:

Originally, I didn't buy an RS because I couldn't afford the premium over the base GT3. A couple of years after picking up the GT3, I had the discretionary funds available to treat myself to more car joy. I thought about a new 991.2 GT3 and also the 997.2 RS. My final decision was to stick with the 997.2 GT3 and enjoy the project of tailoring it more to my individual needs through mods. I thought an RS would be unsuitable for this type of fun because there would constantly be a voice nagging at me about hurting the value of the car with significant non-reversible mods.

Non-reversible mods? The centerpiece of my project was an engine build that had the Mezger bored and stroked out to 4.2l. Other fun stuff included JRZ triple adjustable dampers, BBS monoblock wheels, RS 4.0 lwfw and clutch, LSD rebuild with Motorsport plates, long tube headers, dual cone intake, perlon buckets. The end result looks like a plain GT3 but pulls as hard as my heads and cam LS7 Z06.

I purchased my .1GT3 from a friend who needed to sell it. That was 10 years ago. Right after I purchased it, I could have sold it for profit and traded up to an RS. I made the mistake of not doing that as the price △ would have been about 15k. I always had the RS itch for the hips alone. Well I finally scratched that itch and came to realize that I didn't need to scratch it at all. I now realize that I could have been perfectly happy living the rest of my life with the .1 non RS. Hindsight is 20/20.

Hindsight is another word for experience. Had you not purchased the RS you would still or likely still have the itch.

While you now know you “could have been perfectly happy” keeping the NB GT3, because of your real world experience, the REAL question or issue now for you is whether keeping the RS (especially in this sellers market) is worth it? Do you like the RS more or sufficiently more to keep it? The question is sharper now since You could likely make money on the RS and buy another GT3 and pocket the difference.

This a personal decision. No right or wrong.

and Steve, I do realize your RS has high mileage,.... but didn't you buy it that way? be honest, how many miles per year are you putting on that car. Splitting miles over lots of cars is a luxury too which I also now enjoy.

and we are just two {wild & crazy} guys,... in a sea of enthusiasts,... who do whatever they want with their cars. It's why we have a "Community"!! ... so splitting hairs is all in good spirit

My RS and my GT2 both have high mileage, but I'm not afraid to drive either one...and feel super fortunate to have them both! I drive the GT2 more than my 3RS but that is more a function of tires and my having invested in the maintenance updates of my GT2. Once my 3RS gets new tires and the coolant lines addressed I do hope to drive it a lot more!

Lol, lets just say this, after the CA taxes of over $21,000, I ain't making any money on a sell. I'm gonna have to drive the crap out of this car and when the motor goes, I'll have to Build a 3.9.

Fair enough. At least you have the warm sense of satisfaction of contributing to the socialist cause.

loving this thread. RS is RS but also a $100k difference between a GT3 and RS can be leveraged 5x into real estate... just a few short years ago RS's were going for $275k at dealerships. one thing's for sure, never a dull moment in porsche markets

I don't see $100 deltas between NB and RS'

but I'm also not seeing my car being $150 either, LOL ($175k? yes)

You know how it goes. When it’s yours it’s worth more. When it’s theirs it’s immediately worth less. Lol.
