After a long day of work, it's nice to come on this site and see what's up with the cars and members. Hate coming on to a car forum and have to talk about money, the economy, stocks, "Bit F in Coin" or anything that gets discussed all day in the market, on the radio, tv and with coworkers. There is an off topic subform where the members love to chat about that stuff and one could probably get a lively conversation over there. It's exhausting to have to filter through it over here.

What the pandemic did was allow the rich to get richer and it accelerated the growth of the diminishing middle class.

My thoughts are, if you're really wanting the best deal on a car, I'd not buy on BAT. Selling one, now that's a different story. Big money coming to sellers these days.
Now if you find the absolute car you've been wanting, it may be worth buying there to get it. Just know you'll pay a premium just due to the BAT auction craze.
Best of luck.
I really want to make a BAT buy someday, just not sure now is the time for the best deal.

I wonder what the best ending day and time is. I guess maybe 2pm Pacific? That way you may not have people commuting.
I'm putting my 2012 GTS coupe 6 speed w/ 23k miles up and I know I can sell it for a high dollar on BAT but can't guess what. It doesn't have leather or a ton of options, but it's about as mint as can be. The only other coupe up for sale right now is $115k and has 21k miles. And another for $120k. 997 GTS search
What do you thin?

I think my two issues were that the exhaust, even with Sharkwerks wasn't what I imagined (GT3 is perfect) and I think the PDK did make it a bit too easy to drive quickly.

Always loved the GTS. As others have said, you blink once and get cold feet back in 2017-2019, and you missed the boat.
i still remember 2 that I missed on:
1. Basalt 997 (4?)GTS 6MT and aero with 66k listed in the $70s in Bay Area (2018 listed 4 months after I've already bought a car)
2. Black 991.1 GTS 6MT with duckbill 40k miles listed around high $80s in Texas in 2019.
Those were the days.

Auctions are gaining popularity. Although they have been around for a long time, lately, their popularity has skyrocketed. There are various reasons for this, but one of the main reasons is that people are getting more and more interested in antiques and other collectibles. In the past few years, many cases of people becoming millionaires by taking part in auctions. For example, two months ago, a lady from New York that worked with the best bid writing service became a millionaire after winning an auction for a painting that was believed to be worth between $10 and $20 million. It turned out that she paid only $2 million for it!

My 2c. I have both won and bid on a few cars on BaT. Occasionally I'll throw in an early bid to get updates. To really get a car the last "2 minutes" is all that matters. With around 5-10 minutes to go, I put in a bid, to be sure Im logged in correctly etc. Then when the 2 min starts, I bid as quickly as I can, nothing worse that a bidder that waits until ~10 seconds to raise. I also click on the profiles of each bidder to attempt to anticipate if they are a real player or not. Be prepared to loose. In advance I set a hard limit, and that includes the BaT commission, and transport fees. I have seriously bid on maybe 6 cars, but only won one (have bought 2 from BaT, see next further down as to how). When I get outbid, I dont comment on how dumb the winner is for over paying, I tip my cap to the platform for extracting TOP dollars for the vehicle I wanted. Also keep in mind, if the reserve is not met, and your the high bidder, you get the sellers contact info. From there you can try to work a deal. An added bonus here, is that if you are able to buy the car this way, no BaT commission.

I bought my GT3 off BAT while on a conference call after much consideration and looking at other cars in person. I nearly barfed when I won the car but I actually think i got a killer deal even with the BAT fees despite all of the hype.
On the other hand I have a NSX which I submitted to BAT but they want to lower my reserve to a place where i would be very unhappy with selling and I am not willing to take the risk, even in today's market. Because i still think deals can happen even on hype platforms like BAT.
As for when it will end, no one knows. I for one bought my car because i firmly believe that these cars will continue to rise in price. We are in a phase where 90s cars are mega hyped but as someone who owns and has owned many 90s cars, the real drivers era is the 00s and that will boom in prices soon.

.... edit: never mind,... my comment didn't make much sense, when put in perspective of buying a 90's car now,... as in investment (which is what I think you are referencing). Too expensive to buy now & hope it goes up even further (964 Turbo's)
