if it gets cold none of those are going to be good choices. 4s is a good all around cool (not cold) weather to summer. cup has no place on the street imo
looks like a good option for track (I do not) but was told on another forum that they were ok for street also
Don't believe what you hear. I bought 2 sets for my 997 3RS. I'm about 6 sessions into the first set of AR-1s. They are great at the track. About 2 seconds faster than cup 2s and 1-2 seconds slower than Hoosiers. My son got 24 sessions out of his on a S2000 which is more than he gets out of NT01s. So very happy at the track. On the road, they are horrible. Very loud. I don't track my car much (maybe 4-6 times a year), so I will go back to Cup 2s or even 4S when these wear out. If someone wants to buy a new set, I would be happy to sell them to you. I'm not going to put the 2nd set on.
by "skipping it", does that mean you've answered my question? ... which is to say that it exists?
thank you in advance and in arrears for making me work for my answer
incidentally, post # 18 answers your question
RAudiDriver mentioned this in post #6.... so I was just reiterating, since no had yet answered it.
Steve, the only Michelin N Spec tire for the GT3 is the Cup 2 and same goes for the the RS sizes. I ran Super Sports, non "N", in the past and hated the look. However, I think the 4S rim bead is not the same as the Super Sport rim bead. The 4 S is buried closer to the rim so it's not going to be as noticeable. I have 4S on both SUV's and my RS4. They look great on those cars. In fact, let me go snap a shot of them on the RS4 and you can see how the bead is not really visible. Hopefully it will be similar on a 12" wide wheel. The Audi had 275's in the past and I reduced it to a 265 so I could bump up the sidewall a wee bit.
Michelin 4S is a great tire. If it gets cool you are okay, if it rains you are okay. They are quiet. Performance on the street is going to be as good as you will ever need. I think they look good.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH RAudi D!!! Your answer above is perfect, and thank you again for the extra pics.
That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Don't really need N spec, as I trust Michelin does their testing just like Porsche does. And I don't need the extra price point.
and you are correct, in that the non-N-spec rim bead buldge that I have seen before, & did not like, were (if my memory serves) Pilot Sports & Cup2's on 12 inch 997 GT3 rims. Did not care for that stretched look at all.
Here's a view of new 4S on stock .1 wheels in OE sizes. They look slightly fatter than the aged out PSS they replaced. I wouldn't trust them in temps below 40°F…but anecdotally they "skip" less in the cold than the P Zeros from my last 911.

well you are comparing a legit tire to a POS lol. p zeros are such hot garbage
PS4S is the way to go on a street driven car. Cup 2 is good, but not great in lower temps and is going to wear considerably tire. Then again, so many of these cars will time out tires due to age before they wear them out.
I have PS2's on my car, previous owner had them installed, but will probably swap to PS4S next year when they time out due to being 6 years old.
