any of the PS compounds will be great on the street. i think there are better tires than the cup 2 for the money, I guess it's a good "OEM" tire from the factorybut if you are driving that tire anywhere close to the limit you are likely better off with a diff tire. you are right though that a majority of the tires on these cars are gonna time out before you run out of tread

I second P-zeros being POS. I think they come standard on some 911 so that you crash that car and buy another.

lol. they play up the tires being "pirellis" so hard. tbh, most people don't need ****ty tires to crash a 911

Cup 2's are the best street tire but also decent on track. They are good in the rain as long as you drive nornal.

I'm surprised to see the "Pirelli sucks" comments.
My car originally came with PZero Corsa; I believe they are the other and less common OE tire (60tw). Thought they were quite good. They had all the grip I needed.
I can say pretty much the same about my current PSC2 as well. Cold temperatures and rain not a concern for me in Socal.
The only thing I don't like about this type of tire is how they fling pebbles and stuff on the car (the Pirellis moreso than the cup2s).
I'm considering moving down to PS4S next time around since I just use the car to cruise but I'm worried about downgrading.
Had another car in the past on which I went PSC2 -> PS4S and it kinda ruined it. Lots of feel gone and I think the sticky compound on that unnamed car masked some chassis and suspension shortcomings.
Hoping this wouldn't be the case on a 997 GT3

I just ordered 4S for my car, Kev. You can drive it when they are on next week

I had 4s and swapped them through tire rack for cup2 after a few days of driving. They (4s) were a little soft for me and really heated up during the hot temps on mountain roads. I have 4s on other cars and really like them, but for the GT3 - cup2 just feels right to me. They are definitely stiffer and do not fluctuate in temperatures as much as the 4s tires. Just my $.02

i currently run 4s's on my 991.1 turbo s and cup2's on my 997.2 gt3.

* pzero base tires are absolute garbage - came factory on turbo s
* pzero rosso's are pretty good - had them on my last 997.1 gt3
* daily driven or similar should do 4s - currently on my turbo s, best all-around tire
* weekend cars should do cup2's - currently on my gt3, it's the best tire in good conditions

How old you guys think it's old? My car came with P Zero Corsa System which were manufactured in 2015. My fronts still have lots of meat left but the rears are running out.
Since tire rack has them on sale, Im thinking of just replacing the rears. They will probably last another 5000 miles.
Option 2 is replace all 4 with PS4S which is probably a downgrade. It is a weekend car.

Same here. Had P zeroes on my 991.1 turbo s and hated them. Really noisy- still had a lot of wear but couldn't wait to swap out for 4S's which transformed the car. Have cup 2's on the .2 GT3. Like 'em but don't track the car very often so eventually will probably replace with 4S's.

I can't for the life of me find a great answer for a street tire to fit on 18 inch wheels. All the best tires are now only for bigger wheels. I'm really not too keen on running R888Rs on the street.

**stealth edit**

Maybe a Falken or Yokohama? I've just never had any experience with either brand. Fronts are easy to find, but I need a 315/30/18 or 315/35/18.

They look great on those cars. In fact, let me go snap a shot of them on the RS4 and you can see how the bead is not really visible. Hopefully it will be similar on a 12" wide wheel. The Audi had 275's in the past and I reduced it to a 265 so I could bump up the sidewall a wee bit.
Hey RAudi @RAudi Driver ... following up on this thread.
Background: I went ahead & bought the PS4S,... but for a different application all together (for my 1991 964 Turbo, which is a 10.5" rear rim & 285/30R18). I love how they feel on the back roads at speed, etc etc,.... but one thing I noticed is that the design build that Michelin did for that tire, is WAAAAY different than the previous 285/30R18 tire that I was running on that car. The section width & tread width are sooo much bigger. Clearly there is a LOT of leeway manufacturers have for the same 285/30R18 size tire. which means they build different section & tread widths into their design.
From a bulge perspective, the shoulders are VERY square when looking from the rim, up to the outer tread block.

Thus I wanted to pull this thread back up for discussion, and have you guys help me do a comparison between the Cup 2's, and PS4S in the EXACT same size - 305/30R19,... on the same 12" rear rim width.
My focus is on the sidewall ONLY. ie, how much (or how little) the bulge looks.... or another way to put it, is how much "stretch" the tire looks to have (I suspect "very little" with these PS4S tires)

RAudi, the pics you posted in post #23 helped a bit,... but those were your 265/35's on your Audi. The amount of stretch looks pretty good there. Your sidewall & shoulder doesn't seem to be that square (from rim up to tread block).

I am wondering how different the sidewall & shoulder look between the Cup2 tire, verses PS4S in the 305/30R19 size:...

Per the SPECS, the Section Widths are exactly the same (12.3"). But....
.... Tread Width: PS4S = 11.5" ..... Cup2 = 11"

That tells me that the shoulder will definitely be more square. But how much so, is the question. Thoughts?

I also see in post # 28 above, technivoro.us shows some pictures of his PS4S, but those look like his 235/35 front tires,.... so that doesn't help with this discussion.

Query: Call out to anyone who already has the PS4S in size 305/30R19, mounted on their 12" wide rear rims,... if you could post pictures of a few angles, that would be GREAT!

TIA
