Default How bad is the brake dust with .2 steel brakes RS?

Have found a killer specimen with only 3k miles with everything I want except PCCB’s. For a daily driven application, how bad is the brake dust? I had steel brakes on my 991 GT3 and told myself I’d never have steel brakes again because the wheels get so filthy. I’d wash them and by the time I got home from the car wash, they’d be filthy again... can’t do it. Hoping there’s a solution so I can follow through on this car. And maybe I just need to wait on the right ccb car...

I have steels on on my 987.2 Spyder. The brake dust is awful. Changing to ceramic pads in the spring. That will help a lot.

with OEM pads? bad.

I run Race Technology / Brembo TS20 pads and dust is very manageable and much much better than stock.

The good news is that the OEM .2 RS wheels are ridiculously easy to clean since the spokes are so wide apart, even to get the inside of the barrel.

I use this for cleaning the barrel:

And this for the face/spokes:

Pads and rotors just consumables. Running (for the street) the most basic rock auto pads with steel rotors and dust not bad at all. Really not an issue. Very easy to clean and gets dirty at about the same rate as the car itself. Knowing how Porsche contracted with ZF to prevent them from selling individual PDK components to consumers, so the failure of even a small sensor would require a $20k PDK replacement, its not entirely surprising that the stock pads dust so badly that it would make owners want to go out and get PCCB’s.

I have steel’s
I just keep a bottle of quick detailer,a few cheap microfiber towels and a pair of disposable gloves in the funk.
it takes 5 mins at most to clean them after you park up, brake dust it easy to clean when the wheels are warm.
just spray the quick detailer on the towel and wipe all the dust away.

stand back and adore your ride

Brake dust is bad. Ceramic coating on wheels makes cleaning easier, but it's still going to stick.

IMO OEM pads are designed not to squeak and are "softer" which makes them dusty. After market ceramic pads advertise less dust. Ceramic coating makes the wheels easier to clean. I use Armor All Outlast brake dust repellent for my OEM and track wheels. I do two coatings.

Ceramic pads are not performance oriented.

Ceramic coat your wheels and calipers, the brake dust on mine just falls off with a light rinse with water .

I have never met a German car with iron brakes that doesn’t generate crazy amounts of dust. Porsche, ///M, AMG, all of ‘em.
