Super Fun. Loved the story of driving the 991 in Spain. Sub machine guns and all.... Awesome.

Just watched it again (3 or 4 times back when it first released, but now once again) ... couple weird things I noticed....

When they first lift the garage doors, and pan across the room (cue music), exactly at the 1min 12sec mark, check out the coloring. The 997.2 looks RED,... but in fact it is the orange one. So the producers clearly added some color saturation.

Then,... as I watched (again) during the 997.2 review (orange one),... at exactly the 12min 52second mark, as AP is talking about how they added the Centerlock wheels, the producers cut to a sweep across on the CL's, and it is NOT of the 997.2,.. but rather of the 991 CL's (w/ orange calipers on PCCB's,... or maybe they were actually red, but the producers saturated the footage there too!!) that also have the single orange/or/red pin stripping on one of the spokes. Can anyone identify which 991 had that wheel/PCCB/Caliper setup?

... that was funny,... but indeed they DID correct it by showing the correct 997.2 rim/pccb/caliper setup at the 14:08 mark.

anyway,... it was indeed fun to watch even for a 4th & 5th time!! Thanks for reposting (still fun seeing all the keys on the windshield wipers for each car too)

EDIT: Ahhh,... now I see that the dark gray Gen 2 991 rim with orange looking caliper on PCCB's (w/ spoke stripe), with side stripes, that is right next to the orange 997.2 (behind Chris).

LOL, details only someone afflicted with serious Porsche Addiction would pick up on.

It's funny, I've owned a 997 for 11 years and just figured that mirror thing out last week.
I had my car transported and they folded the mirrors in to get it in the truck.

There's a little red tab inside the housing that you can move to hold the spring mechanism open. Then, when you want to unfold them, you push on the little red tab and it will release it.

right. So just push your mirror backwards & you'll see the red lever. Once you move it a bit, you'll understand how it locks in place & prevents the mirror from closing back to its standard position.
... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this manual lever was a standard mirror thing on all 997 model lines back then (not just GT cars)

Then, when you want to return the mirror back to normal position, just push on the mirror a bit (backwards again), and the red lever will disengage by itself. Easy.... & cool.

Of course, after Chris Harris shows the red lever trick,.. AP then says (at the 14:30 mark), that the weight savings of that manual lever, is not really that much better than todays technology of having a servo motor & a door panel switch to make it electronic.
.... Something tells me that when they're attempting to save "a gram here, and a gram there", that the manual lever is still "lighter". Lol

haha,... well as long as you don't push the mirror "forward", you'll be fine.

and why waste time looking for a Youtube video, when you've got the video in post #1 here!! Just fast-fwd to 14:15 mark & you'll see Chris push the mirror backwards & then you'll see him flick the red lever.

....Pissed,... you may be over thinking this one

I checked my RS yesterday and yes indeed, it's simple. Worked like a charm... I'm sure this factory mod added 1.5 HP to the overall output and reduced weight by a gram or two Very cool tidbit of virtually unknown data.

I didn't know about the folding mirrors either. 16 years later and I'm still learning about the 997's quirks!
