Default GT3 Callipers - same as turbo?

Hello, does anyone know if the
- 997.1 GT3 steel 350mm front and rear callipers (reds) and discs are the same as the
- 997.2 Turbo 350mm steel (non pccb) front and rear calliper (reds).

I am considering getting a near new spare set off a 997.2 turbo owner but want to check. Some say the pistons sizes are different hence also asking those here who may really know?

Thanks

The part numbers between the Turbo and GT3 calipers are different. I can give you the list of part numbers, but there are a bunch of nuances depending on the years and with or without PCCB's. I know you mentioned you're talking about iron rotors only. Whether or not you can get them to fit though is a different story.

As far as rotors, they are also different part numbers.

Do you know the right part no. For a 997.1 GT3 (steel) rear calliper set? I’ve been looking online and coming up with many different part number and am confused?

Rear Left (Red Brakes): 99735242599
Rear Right (Red Brakes): 99735242699

Looks like for the rear calipers, the .1 and .2 share the same part. I actually ordered those exact parts from Sunset Porsche Parts above in 2019 when I had a leaky rear bleeder screw on one of my rear calipers and decided just to take the opportunity to refresh them with new ones.

997Turbo 350 steel and 997.1GT3 350 steel calipers bodies are the same and the piston sizes are the same. The difference is that the Turbo calipers have steel pistons while the GT3 calipers have aluminum pistons with Zircon inserts which have better heat insulating properties.

When Tom at TPC was selling his, he made mention of the caliper size being the same, but part numbers being different also. So the difference must be that Porsche doesn’t want you using the different pistons. Which is why they list compatibility of the GT3 caliper as only for the GT3 and the turbo only on the turbo.

thanks, that's excellent details guys, and always amazing how Porsche tweaks things to optimise them for the GT3!

The calipers in the above FS post are GT3 calipers, not Turbo. All GT2/3 calipers have the yellow Zircon pucks, the Turbo calipers do not. Other than that, they are the same. With the 380 7.2 calipers, it's a different story. While visually identical as they use the same body, the GT3 calipers still use the yellow Zircon inserts and they are smaller (in the front) than the Turbo cousins... This gives the GT cars are greater rear braking bias compared to the Turbo.

Not sure about others, but my '07 Turbo has those yellow pucks just like in the pictures.

I have had a 997.1 turbo with the yellow calipers, 380mm ceramic rotors , and now i have a 997.2 gt3, 380mm steel rotors.

The caliper pistons are different. Because of different breaking balance in the cars

I also have 997.2 turbo rear rotors, which seems to fit the gt3

These charts have interesting information regarding the caliper piston sizes:
