Batteries
quarantine musings.... My RS is filthy. Several 100 miles of canyons and haven't washed in at least 3 months, sitting uncovered in the garage. You guys should try it, quite liberating! :-) I've found, they actually drive just as nice dirty as clean!!!
So I go to move it to (gasp) wash it and mop the garage, and well, NOTHING! I hadn't put it on the tender, it was a 2 weeks since I drove it. Not even a click! DEAD battery. Like dead dead, won't take a charge. CTEK failing after a couple hours several times. only holding about 6v.
So first, have to get the frunk to pop. it's so dead the fuse box trick is not working. So I put a boost box on the 12v lighter socket in the center console and well that did it. And I didn't fry anything...
I suspect bad battery, it was 18mo old, last few times, even on tender, felt like cranking was slow.
Anyway, Autozone was easy, just Brought it, straight swap, no "pro rated fees" etc. And open during quarantine lock down.
Of course, when one removes a battery, one must remove the tray and fully clean the entire area. Its amazing how familiar some of that dust looked to button willow and chuckwalla... hmm....
And, since I spent a few hours doing what would take 30 minutes killing quarantine time, I get to save washing the car till next time. I did mop the garage...
When I replaced the radiators and condensers, we replaced all the plastic bits on the front bumper. Maybe I get the wheels off and start to replace the well patina'd bits under the bumper, sills.. (have new somewhere!) etc.
FK. First time none of my cars really need anything we're under LOCKDOWN. SUCKS.

Yup. Not as tight as it looks. But it’s tight. Downside of 2400 ft beach lots.

Battery died after 18 months? WTH We need to go on a canyon drive with real estate being slow.

I agree with your claim that Porsche Fresno are one of the 'good guy' dealers. I used to have them service my RS, and they always did the work as promised, on time, and at promised price. Good Master mechanic on staff there installed my RSS Tarmac Series, and did a wonderful job.

Took the orange car down coast highway and then a blast up the toll road... she seems to like to cruise at... xxx :-) Something about the sound of that old 911 engine on full boil just gets the blood going!
