The rear bumper beams on all the US '09 on 997s use what is essentially the lighter rear beam as the Euro cars. It is thinner and cut out on the back, and with the bumper warts removed just as the Euro version, the beam only weights 6 lbs. Unlike the Euro version, the tow hook location is in the same location as for the US cars, and they come with the bumper warts so you can leave them for extra protection, or remove them to save a couple of lbs.

12 lbs off the rear is good. That's close to the savings for a carbon hood (which is up front!), and way more $$$$$

Majority of the owners of these cars wont notice 100 lbs of weight removal. Its a slippery slope so the question you should ask yourself is what are you trying to achieve? To what weight removal extreme is worth sacrificing street safety?

The biggest saver of weight is the following:
- Seats
- Wheels
- Battery
- Full exhaust system

After that you are talking 4-10 lbs here and there, which pretty much done as a single entity wont be felt. At that point only you can answer is the cost worth it to you, cause it can be thousands of dollars for 10 lbs.

And if you are willing to go to the extreme of hacking up a street gt3 to reduce as much weight as possible, as was pointed out earlier, a cup car would be a much better and safer choice. If operating expenses are too much for a cup car, then consider a cayman clubsport.

Mmmmm...those lightweight rear bumper beams are delicious looking, particularly the FVD carbon part.

If enough people are interested, I could make the bumper bar out of 100% carbon fiber and probably come in around 2-4 pounds.

I need a group buy to make it cost effective. Please let me know.

All of the PCA Club Racing car class weights include the driver for the weight of the car. I always looked at that as incentive to lose weight in the off season. 10-15 pounds right there for me.

The FVD ultralight kevlar doors (with side impact beams) save almost 25lbs per pair vs stock. The FVD carbon fenders will save a bit under 14lbs per pair. The price per pound saved is not great compared to seats, batteries, wheels, and exhaust, but them's the breaks. You can choose not to worry dropping more weight, pay past diminishing returns, or get a cup car.

what would be the price to purchase? Carbon fiber makes sense in these cars. Let’s make it happen👍🏻
