i am looking at a 2008 gt3, guards red, black alacantra. new ceramics and tires with about 800 miles on them, recent service. has 18k miles on it, asking $99k, is that a fair price, thoughts on the 08 gt3 in general. i have a 15 gt3 PDK and love it, how different is the 08 gt3 over the 15 gt3, thanks

Firstly a 997.1 GT3 is more analogue and raw than the 2015 GT3. Truly apples to oranges. A isngle mass flywheel in the 997, a revy motor and for me much more of emotional, visceral driving experience. A 15 albeit faster and more hp, is also a bigger car and might take away a bit of the 'fun' with the PDK option. I had a 997.1 GT3 and loved it. I sold it to get into a 997.2 RS and find the 997 is the best '911 platform'. Nimble and amazing direct steering. Are you able to drive the '08 for a comparison?

The asking seems on the high side, but maybe not for a low mileage car this close to driving season.
New ceramics is a red flag for this red GT3. My ceramic discs have over 62K miles and don't show any wear. If it doesn't have original brake pads at 18K miles, you are looking at a tracked vehicle. Have a PPI run and check the service documents. The seats could show a little wear on the bolsters from bad entry and exit, but if it doesn't look pristine, I'd walk.

I think a lot of what you are paying for here is the color. Guards red is not a common color on the 997.1 GT3. I would also be asking why ceramics where replaced. To me that spells some harder use, which is really not a big deal on these cars but you just have to make sure you know what you are paying for.

If you are buying from a reputable seller, whether that is an individual or a dealer you should have less concern. Just do your homework on the car and the history.

I sold a ‘15 991 GT3 for a 2011 7.2 RS. Would never go back to a 991, maybe, maybe a 991.2 RS. But you have to spend some time in the 997. Thirty minutes minimum. Couldn’t be a bigger difference in the Gens. The ceramics thing is odd for sure. In general, it would even be hard with track use to blow through a set of ceramics in 18k. Do your homework. If it was tracked that much you’ll know when you see the car in certain areas. That said, I would not write that car off if it checks out. That’s potentially a great car and color.

Did they really put new ceramics on it or were the originals shelved while the car was tracked with steels?

Hey, don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've had two 997.1's and now in a 991.2 CT for 7500 miles and am considering going back into a 997.2 RS. Don't get me wrong - the 991.2 is a great daily driver, Apply CarPlay et al... but, and there is a but, the size and the slightly aseptic, less connected driving experience has my attention. Any regrets?

Regrets? Me? I haven't driven a 991.2 CT but have driven a 991.2 GT3. No thanks and no regrets. I found the car brilliant, but did not like the 'new tech feel'. I like the suspension, tranny and steering turn in too much of the 997.2 RS....

Coop, was there really a SMFW in the .1 997 GT3's from the factory?? ... I thought the single mass only came on the RS,... but I also do not know enough about the Gen 1 to know if that is true as it is with the .2

.... or maybe just the specific gen1 997 GT3 you owned had a Single Mass (ie converted during ownership, as compared to coming from the factory)

........ just trying to see if I can learn something new about the .1 regular GT3.

Dual mass flywheel in the normal .1 GT3 like I have. Single mass flywheel in the .1 RS.
