997.1 Aux iPod Adapter, how does it work?
I recently purchased a 997.1 GT3 RS with an aux iPod connection pre-installed. I've attached a photo. I don't know how to get it to work. Which input should I switch to on the stereo ? I'm attempting to connect to an iphone with an RCA to lightning adapter. I've verified the cable works on an old stereo receiver. My Porsche stereo is the base version, Non-Nav. Any help is greatly appreciated

You won't need to connect your phone. That hardwire tech stuff is old. I had the same issue on my 2010 RS, bought a Bovee 1000 unit and now it connects my iPhone and plays my music from the iPhone via Bluetooth, no issue.
Only downfall is no iPhone charging.
Check this thread, it could help: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ed-iphone.html
Bovee from Amazon:
Good luck. Its an easy install but takes a bit of pairing time etc...

That unit might work thru the FM modulator or CD. Plug in your phone, hit play then put the stereo on FM, switch the little black box in both positions. Then do the same for the CD. Make sure when you are toggling thru the different modes, your phone has not paused, I phones usually pause when input is changed.
Bovee is good also.

Thanks everyone. I've tried switching sources, toggling switches, no such luck. CD says no disk and nothing changes on FM. I'm thinking of switching to Bovee. However, will a basic 997.1 (non-nav, non Bose) stereo will have the proper connection?

Hang tight, I have a 997.1 and have never ben able to connect my phone. Haven't really tried but I don't think it has built in Bluetooth. Heading to the garage to verify.
Just checked, the 997.1 PCM unit has no bluetooth.

I'm not sure if this addresses what you're trying to accomplish, but my 2007 997.1GT3 had the old style ipod connector in the glove box. I borrowed an old ipod from a friend to try it out and for the life of me I could not figure out what buttons to press on the PCM to control what was playing on the ipod. So I gave up on that experiment and started looking for different alternatives to allow me to play music from my phone through the car stereo. Last fall this topic came up here in the forum and someone recommended this device:

It's an inexpensive device ($15) that you plug into a power outlet, and pair to your phone via Bluetooth. It talks to the car stereo via RF so you have to set the frequency you want to use on the device and tune the PCM to that 'station'. I was pretty skeptical, but figured for that price it was worth a shot. Turns out it works great. Very handy, as I can easily move it to other cars I have that don't have BT audio support w/ the factory stereo. Prob not the last word it audio fidelity, but I've got a SW bypass, so there's no point in spending extra money to improve the sound quality when I won't be able to appreciate it really.

I have not seen a unit with that style connector before.
For others looking into doing something similar, I am planning to send my CDR24 stock radio out to Becker come the spring. They offer either an aux input or a bluetooth option. Aux is slightly cheaper around $100 and bluetooth is $125 I think. Both good options if you like the looks of the stock unit like I do but want slightly more functionality.

Its not what you are looking for but I spent $15 and got an FM modulator from Amazon. You can charge your phone with it and the sound quality is pretty good- at least good enough for the subpar stereo system in the RS.

That is the breakout connector for the Dension Gateway 500 (or variation of): https://www.dension.com/automotive/p...ns/gateway-500
The silver brain box might be in your frunk or behind the PCM. There should also be a 30pin connector for an old iphone somewhere connected to it, or possibly the newer version with a lightning connection. If it has a 30pin connector you can get an adapter and direct connect to the unit. I used to have this unit. Read the manual on how to get it working again.
