Default 997.2 Build Progress

Hello everyone!

I was fortunate enough to find pretty much the exact 997 GT3 spec'd the way I wanted last year. I plan to try and track the car at least 50% of the time it is being driven. Just thought I'd start a build thread to monitor the modifications and progress of the car as I begin to make it mine.

6/1/2019 First thing I did was get it professionally detailed. The detail included:

- 3 Step paint correction
- Front end + rear fender replacement PPF
- Full Opticoat Pro Plus

I also added a Sharkwerks center bypass exhaust as a temporary fix. (I plan to do full Dundon exhaust down the road)

12/1/2019 After this the next step was to make it a little more reliable on the track.

- Welded coolant pipes
- Installed OSG differential
- Installed RS 4.0 Clutch /LFW and Lightweight pulley
- Replaced some worn items such as water pump, oil sender, fuel rail, etc.

All buttoned up and in good company!

Car is currently hibernation for the winter but ready to go for next Spring track season!

More to come. Thanks for looking all and as always, any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

-Joel

Great looking car. White with PCCB's is a great spec.

Guessing that you are planning to replace the PCCB's with Girodiscs or some other steel setup when on track?
Also, since you did the LWFW, it might be good to look into the Dundon Harmonic Balancer. That was a popular discussion the past couple of days in here.

That is the plan. I will be looking to pick up some steel discs before hitting the track. I did do the upgraded RS 4.0 pulley which is also lightweight but honestly don't know a whole lot about the harmonic balancer. I will have to do some more reading up on that one. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks!
The shop used a bbi coolant pipe kit. They included a nice description of the labor performed.

If your engine is out I would replace the PS line right now! They all end up leaking eventually and while you can do it without the engine out, if it's already out...

Engine is already back in. However, the shop inspected everything and replaced anything that commonly leaks, fails, or looked worn. PS line looked fine according to them. Thank you for the tip though! I had an 8 page invoice of the stuff that was replaced, detailed down to the screws and washers

That has got to be the most thorough OCD write up I've ever seen, kudos to the shop. I'm scared to see the numbers on the right side that were whited out.

I have been tossing around doing a 5 lug conversion to get some better wheel options down the road.

With the 4.0 LWFW installed - you may want to read up on Dundon's $1.5k dampener

IMO the five lug doesn't go with GT Porsche. Centerlock wheels just look great on GT3. Most of the custom wheel companies will make anything to spec. Vorsteiner made some for me and they are perfect.

A five lug GT3 is a deal killer for me if I was looking to buy.
