I just saw that too. This actually perfect .I googled for R&T articles and found nothing like what you posted. Considering the NZTA list R&T as a source this is exactly what I needed. Thank you, sir!

Thank you to all of you who posted links and suggestions (everyone). I have submitted a nice collection of links to the New Zealand Transportation Authority. If the importer I am dealing with denies me I will find another. Will keep you posted!

Post away if you have more info .

The fact that the cars sell over MSRP ought to indicate collector status.
Good luck with the process

This is true. I received an email today in response to an email I sent last week .They are trying to prove the car is a collector cat in LHD form... Haha

I tried to see if it was possible to bring a LHD into AUS and it is impossible. The current regs simply do not allow it. AUS is fairly tight with many things as I've learned.

As for NZ, they actually have a special permit for collector cars in LHD or RHD if you tick all the boxes listed below. Took this straight from NZTA's website. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/im...rest-vehicles/What requirements have to be met?

Requirements that the vehicle must meet

To have a vehicle identified as a special interest vehicle, the NZ Transport Agency must deem it to have historic value or it must meet three of the following four requirements:
  • The vehicle (or its make, model and submodel) is identified as being a collector's item in one of the following magazines or their respective websites – Australian classic car, Car and driver (US), Automobile (US), Motor (Australia), Motor trend (US), New Zealand autocar, New Zealand classic car, Road and track (US), Top gear (UK), Top gear NZ,Unique cars (Australia) or Wheels (Australia).
  • The vehicle's make and model has been (or was) manufactured in annual volumes of 20,000 units or less.
  • The vehicle is, and was manufactured as, a two-door coupe or a convertible.
  • The vehicle is, and was manufactured as, a high-performance vehicle.
<20k Manufactured Units? Check
Two-door coupe/convertible? Check
High performance vehicle? Check

By their own compliance standards, there shouldn't be a need for them to determine whether it is a classic car to issue the special permit.

This thread raises the broader question -

Are, if not when will, 997.1 & .2 GT3's & RS's be considered collector cars?

To make it undisputable, 10 more years, IMO.

Then it would so rare, people will be asking/looking for it.

Is there any information on the NEXT GT2RS? Thoughts on what Porsche might do to advance the current model (and when)?

If I am tragically behind on this topic, I apologize in advance.
