love my MY08 lowly GT3....yes, I'd love an RS but I got stymied on a Green one years ago
so I'll just continue to love and keep my 997 NB GT3
I will be adding a GT4 very soon, anxious to see what it's like - it's a beauty too, white, LWBS, PCCBs 4K miles - balance must be incredible
I'd really love to know more about the Boxster Spyder (later version) - great looking car

Either they increased or it never moved.
Auctions are never really a good place to sell cars.

^^^ Sounds like you're saying that 997.2 RS's have dipped a bit over the course of past couple years, and recently going back up to the levels 3 years ago. If so, I agree.
There are less units being marketed to be sold compared to 3 years ago as well.
For the speculators (which I am not), they are now seeing that there are a LOT of 991 GT3 and RS cars that have been produced and many more units to be built. (GT3 convertible anyone?)
There are also a lot of 991 GT3 and RS cars in the used market now. These are cross shopped amongst used McLaren's, Ferrari's and Lambo's...all of which further single out 997 RS cars as something truly unique. Compounding the fact that many owners of 997 RS cars are now seeing the same and that they are not selling, just adding (me included)….that's why we are seeing the price creep.

Exactly!
3 years ago there where a lot of 997RS garage queens in the market which where unloaded by some owners for the next best thing.
Maybe a better quality market then than now.
And with the 991 RS dipping, it is becoming obvious the 997 RS is much stable now.
When the 991 RS goes down to $160, Ill get one maybe 1-2 years from now.

If i am a speculator, which i dread the word, Ill park $200 on a 997RS than a 991RS if those are your choices.
Atleast you can get still your money back driving it 2-5k miles per year. Because the market forces are with the 997 right now,
If you drive 2-5k miles per year on a 991RS, you will end up with a used car pricing on it until it reaches its depreciation curve. But I dont think it will recover because they are just too many of them.

These are all the same exact conversations & realizations (I agree with you), that occurred in the air-cooled market for 930's & 964 Turbo's.
Albeit when I bought mine (which was lucky for me) it was the bottom for the 964Turbo, which happened 15 yrs after the 2 year production run ( in 1991 & '92 as the ONLY years sold in US, .... only 580 U.S. units sold in '91). I bought in 2005.
So I agree with buff2001 & RSA27149 for the 997 GT3's (RS' will carry the GT3 with it), and it seems that since they are producing so many more 991's, that it is happening earlier than the air-cooled realization. We're currently only 8 to 11 yrs out.
Glad I picked one up now. It is an amazing, raw, visceral drive, much like the experience we have in our Window Maker.
Although, per my note above in post # 28, looking back over the past 8 - 11 yrs, what year was the bottom (thus far) for both GT3 & GT3RS? ... couple prior posts make it seem that it was 2-3 years ago (verses now).
...... you can tell me,... I can handle it,... I'm 2 years late for the 997.2 GT3 that I just bought,.... right?

hahaha,.... but only if I sell right,... and when it comes to letting go of cars, I have a disease,... and I can see this GT3 shaping up as a fun car to keep for the long run.
in the end,... which could be my own end (not the car),... I'm not really saving miles for anyone else..... but the conjecture sure is fun

Steve, I don't think the market has changed very much for a 997.2 gt3. Lowest priced ones say in 2014 were around 100 with outliers in the 90s. Seemed like most good examples with under 15k miles were in the 105-115 ballpark with high optioned ones going for little more. Bottom of 997.2 gt3 market would be in that range, while bottom of 997.1 gt3 market was low 70s with outliers in the 60s.
The RS market had a much larger spread, seems like 997.1rs bottomed in the mid 80s while 997.2rs bottomed around 110-115. Now that same 80k 997.1rs would be around the 135-155k range (color dependent) while the 997.2rs would be around 150 or higher. Of course these don't include the outliers that are storied or considered very high mileage.

Thanks Widers911. Very well put and good comparison data.
We shall see how things fair in the years to come. Especially when they all go bi-turbo.
The more cars I own, the less each one of them gets driven individually, and thus the MORE miles I actually get as the driver!! ... at least that's my story to my wife & I'm stickin' to it.

the best way to get your money's worth is to put 30k miles on any porsche you now every year.

Looking at the release photos and videos of the new 992, I hope the new GT3 ends up looking ok
991.2 was barely out, maybe it will take a while-
Still, 997 GT3 is the gem, especially looks-
