RS 4.0 in the wild

Burning Brakes
A week ago Thursday, it was off to Southern California via I 5 as 101 was closed due to the terrible fires. Rather boring road unless driving an RS and getting a little exercise (wink - wink). Overnight in Pasadena to avoid evening traffic in traversing LA to Laguna Hills (wedding). Everyone there (non commute hrs.) drives 85mph..... and that's OK with me! Early return via 101 (open by Sunday) for Bay Area as Rams playing in afternoon and need to avoid traffic. Stopped in Buellton for breakfast. Smoke from Santa Barbara to Pismo Beach as no sun seen. Ash all over car. Yeah, with this extended drive, that "wonderful sound" can be tiring so earplugs were part of the day.

Amazing ! All of them.
I am also one of those "Driven and Enjoyed" crew. These wonderful machines are mode to be driven and driven properly. Sun, rain even snow.
Any of these 911' will out live us any way so what this obsession with preservation.
I personally think to be a true petrolhead is to have a mint looking car even when it has 100K miles. That's the craft.
No talent is required to keep a 1k mile car pristine other than resisting the urge do use it.
This is why all my cars have travelled 8 different European countries including many famous race tracks. I prefer 100 smiles per gallon

Now back doing my best to move there

It's funny I drive the 4.0 thinking it's "under the radar" for a 911 and people def know it and go nuts for it
stopped at a Starbucks with my daughter and both of us were amazed at how many people were taking pix of it. Even young kids !

Well, that's an easy one. Los Angeles / socal. I've seen people commuting in anything you can imagine including multi-million dollar classic porsches and ferraris and brand new hypercars, in any traffic and weather condition you can imagine (it can snow and rain storm pretty hard in certain places in the county).

^^^good to know. In fairness I haven't spent much time in SoCal. But in general it seems like the bubble-wrap, "my car has fewer miles than yours and has never seen rain" is more of a US car culture than what I've seen in the UK.

I have not been here long. That's true. I've just seen some pretty insane cars consistently street parked in my neighborhood that I would have never seen parallel parked in NY and for sure TX (but that's expected because everyone had a garage in Houston). And I've seen them driven in all weather, traffic and times of day.
So, let me restate: compared to Houston and NY, London seems to have less of a garage queen mentality. I'm sure there's the CnC-only and trailered concourse crowd here too.
