RS 4.0 in the wild
I’ve been in London for about 2.5 months. They treat cars so much differently than we do in the US; and I respect it. They use them vs just stare at them thru bubble wrap. This morning, at 8am on a Wednesday, in central London, my wife and daughter see a black 4.0 cruise down the street.
1) I was impressed my daughter and wife recognized and named a 997 rs 4.0 (shows how much I force it upon them).
2) where in the US would u ever see a 4.0 cruising along in congested rush hour traffic, in a MAJOR metropolitan area, on a weekday morning car pool run?
Hats off to the London car community. Because they drive, park on the street and run thru basic car washes some truly amazing machines that rarely even see the light of day in the US.

Whilst I do understand why you might say this and that the culture where you live maybe means plenty of owners of these sorts of cars have exactly the same view as you, maybe worried about depreciation with mileage and scared their leg may start to ache in traffic but.....
Porsche road cars, ALL Porsche road cars are daily drivers, that has always been the massive USP of Porsche sports cars. I have been daily driving 911s since the early '90s and those 911SCs were much rawer than anything available today but still superb tactile ultimate petrolhead cars.
I still daily drive my GT2 with 800+hp Sachs 900NM clutch full solid jointed suspension and Tractive shocks/DSC, my daily drive involves some time in congested traffic but so what, that means I get to feel the exquisite weighting and feel of the clutch, the awesome thrum of the tuned 8.4:1 3.9 litre Mezger giving instant Motronic controlled civility so that when I hit that next on ramp it can thump me with 900+NM and up to whatever speed I feel like enjoying. Cup 2s on wet roads just mean the car can move about a bit more, this is called DRIVING and its fun (to me)
I've got over 50K miles now and If I have to drive something else to work I seriously get pissed off and miss the GT2. I felt the same way about my 993 3.8 turbo which I daily drove for 12 years, I think if your are a serious petrolhead you should ALWAYS want to be in your favourite machine and Porsche 911s (prior to 991) are THE best drivers cars IMO

No reason to feel sorry for me: I drive every car I own. My 4.0 has over 10kmi and I hope it has 50 when I’m done with it. Hence why I said I respect that U.K. treats cars as cars; not museum pieces.

And what is interesting is it is that clutch setup in the 4.0 RS which has really helped making the GT 997 models so nice to daily drive, my GT2 has used various Sachs clutch set up over the years but the current HD pressure plate with LWFW and the sprung 4.0RS disc is the best of the lot and nice and quiet yet strong enough for big torque - perfect

Not a 4.0 but I have 40K miles on my GT3 now and it could easily pass for 10K. I bought it to drive and enjoy, not to treat like a piece of antique furniture.
The backdated 3.2 Carrera that preceded the GT3 had almost 120K and still looked fairly decent....

I asked him if it was real and he said it was. Later my local mechanic (who owned Indy cars) confirmed it was true and the Ferrari was driven fairly regularly.
