Clearly, the integrity of the seller is at stake here for not being upfront with me (how could they have not known?), but alas, this is the car business after all.

The question here is, should I move on or try to negotiate a steep discount and if so, what would be the 'right' price?
Thank you!
Porsche OEM paint is very thin/shi**y so unless the previous owner never wrapped it but drove it/tracked it that would explain it. If it was resprayed due to chips, make sure to see receipts. It was due to a collision, deal breaker or take off some more $$.

How did they get the car? Auction or previous trade in?

As I mentioned a couple of posts above the tech who did the PPI recanted his claim re the accident stating he was thrown off due the way the paint appeared under clear bra. They got the car from a local guy and I now have a signed document from the previous owner stating he didn't perform any paint work since he got the car when it had less than 1K miles (from a local Porsche dealership) and put the clear bra at time of purchase.

UPDATE: Wrapped up the deal on the meteor grey GT3 from SF sports cars. As several folks mentioned here, Brad and Sam were terrific to deal with. Flew in to SF from LA today and the car was everything I hoped for. No paintwork after all. Car is solid and super gorgeous. The RS flywheel is noisy but the car does rev freely. I should have the car in a few days! Thanks for everyone's help and advice.

I had a speed yellow 996 Cab back in 1999. Got a lot of attention from both the public and the law. Had 4 speeding tickets in first 4 weeks of ownership hence my license plate 'COP B8'.

Not sure I'd buy another one but I loved mine while I had it. I say let your heart do the talking and forget about resale for now.

Congratulations and enjoy. I had a 356 on consignment with them a few years back and they found a willing buyer and sent the car out for a PPI. Everything went extremely well as I was happy and the buyer was also pleased.

Good choice. Great looking. You might check about the stated color of meteor grey.
I have a 997.1 GT3 in GT Silver. Looks the same in the posted photos.
