Monterey 2017 Porsche 4.0 Market
Being in the market for a 4.0, I was watching the auctions closely this weekend. A white and Black 4.0 sold for $380k and $370k respectively, with miles in the 4-5k range. These are hammer prices not including buyer premiums as I understand

Those prices are leaving me hopeful but with buyers premium it is $418 and $407. I also heard that some auctions where dropping there premiums to 6% on both sides to get sales this year.

yes, but sellers have to price in sellers premium (10%) which would be $342k and $333k net

Wasn't that white 4.0 on sale by someone on RL for like $500k a while back?

I think if you look at all the Porsches on auction this weekend, it was fairly soft.
And prices at Gooding overall, I don't think were as soft as they were for Porsches, it's just
that the Porsches didn't generate a lot of competitive bidding interest.

Look across the board it's been a pretty bad weekend for car auctions. Majority of the lots at RM, Bonhams and Mecum sold below low end of estimates. Whereas Porsches have been weak for the past 9 months, run-of-the-mill Ferraris are now having a dog's time too.

There might be some buyer fatigue out there is my guess. I would have probably bought that Black one but with the buyer premium I'd be around the same price that I paid for a my 4.0 with a CPO. Just confirms that what I paid was definitely in the ballpark.

That makes two happy buyers out there... Hope they get to drive this car in all its glory!

I just bought a 2k miles 3.8RS and really enjoy it. I am 99% sure that I will buy a 4.0 as well. I've heard from Mooty that there is a huge difference.
As far as prices, the market has gotten soft. Premium is probably for cars with under 2k miles?

Have you driven yours yet? I'm awaiting some feedback?

I thought Gooding had unrealistic estimates. Now that Monterey is over, I'm waiting to see what hits the market in the next few months with cash in hand.

If I may bump my own reply.
It's now a business. No.
An industry.
Guys are buying cars and watching auction results like stocks. They are not.
Sell here. Buy there.
If this is how you live you will lose.
