Coolant Pipe Failure?!?
Drove my RS to work today which was a pretty hot day in Nashville (99 degrees). Got home and pulled the car in the garage- was running great. Go out to dinner with the family and come home to find puddles coming out from underneath the garage door. When I opened it up they seemed to be coming from the right side of the car underneath the passenger floorboard. Looks like water and smells like coolant (I think - been an air-cooled guy forever). Any ideas? Just happy it happened in the garage and not coming down the front straight at the track.

Probably a timed out O-ring. Here are some diagrams of the coolant lines.

Thanks- I appreciate it. Figured the coolant pipe popped loose as it is known to do on these cars but all the fluid is coming from the front of the car and not the back where the coolant pipe fitting problem is. Its pink and definitely coolant. Fortunately its in the garage so I'll just have it trailered to my indy next week.

ok if pink, coolant. but up there could be one of the rubber to aluminum line joints.
the AC drain is by the passenger front wheel btw...
could also be a radiator seeping and following a pipe.
when the coolant pipes go, it's catastrophic, like, they dump everything, FAST.

I have experienced a coolant pipe connection failure under passenger seat area of the car. After removing the under tray I was able to see the faulty fitting around the passenger foot well area and replace it. Use Airlift to remove air in the lines and refill.

Excellent- thanks Spyerx and GoatFarmer. I thought it was the AC at first but it was alot and it was definitely pink. Car goes in tomorrow.

See what happens when you give the 993 some love. The GT3RS gets annoyed and demands some attention. Must suck to have two Porsches out of action at the same time, or is the 993 back from the body shop?

no kidding. I hadn't driven my 89 in 2 months, come to find she pissed some oil on the garage floor. this is a car id driven at least every other week for 2 years and Never dripped a drop. Luckily it's just a NEW (damn air cooled) valve cover gasket that needs to be adjusted.

i feel your pain. Buying the RS was the worst thing I ever did to the 993. I have a tandem garage and as James kids above have the ultimate first wolf problem of having to move one Porsche to get the other one out which means I drive the 993 less and less. Now it drips oil and he battery has died twice in the last year.
To to make it up to her I retired her from track duty and bought a new cheaper track car. I organized a big Porsche drive on Saturday and was super bummed to come home and find the RS coolantless with the 993 away for paint. Even my track car battery was dead.
Fortunately i got a new battery and still got to go on the drive. Can you spot the odd man out?

time for the sharkwerks fix.
Happened to my RS a couple of years ago on track.... it was a small leak from a hose on top of the motor... causing white smoke.
all better now
