I'm sorry that's higher than what you were expecting. Do you mind sharing the value of your GT3? Also, do you typically purchase coverage when participating in HPDE events?

Just did a quick quote from Hagerty for an upcoming event at Laguna Seca and the price is less expensive than Lockton, which I've been using.

I'll need to check the fine print to see how this compares to Lockton.

Does Hagerty offer discounts for PCA members at PCA events like Lockton does?

Thank you for quoting with us. We do not have any discounts available, but do feel we've priced this competitively without discounts.

Regarding fine print - please let me know any questions you might have and i'm happy to help. You can also call me at Hagerty, 877-922-9701 ext. 26066.

I'm a driver in the advanced PCA and Chin Groups and I always get track insurance.

1. you never know what might happen, it may be beyond your control.
2. for my $40k track car, I pay about $225/event. I use ontrackinsurance.com and uby multi event packages.
3. My lap times dropped when I started insuring the car.
4. I can afford to walk away from the car should it be totaled but I enjoy the hobby too much and have too much invested. If something were to happen to the car, I expect the policy will pay as it's written and I can start shopping for another car immediately instead of having to save for another.

I have used Lockton previously and the rate was quoted based on the amount insured. I was insuring my car for only about $70k. I would assume that your GT3 would cost twice as much to insure as my car. The more expensive the item being insured, the higher the premium.

I'm sure claimed value is likely the biggest factor, followed by number of claims made historically.

I just spoke to Hagerty insurance to verify coverage for my areas of concern. Being that coverage is the same as Lockton (for my use case) and about $40-50 less expensive than Lockton, I decided to go with Hagerty. Insurance is something you hope you never need to use, but is immensely valuable when you need it; so its hard to say if it is actually any better than Lockton.

The way I see it, the savings will pay for a tank of gas at the track.

First time, don't waste your money. After that it is up to you.

I did track day/HPDE for a couple of years and raced for three after that with NASA in California. I can't recall an instance where two HPDE cars crashed into each other at any event I attended. Racing; a different story.

Hagerty and Lockton came out within a dollar of each other for an upcoming DE at Summit Point...~$450/3 track days for 65k coverage, 10% deductible.

If you estimate an average claim payout of $15-40k for the car, and provide say about 25% allowance for overhead and profit, they’re assuming that the average crash rate is roughly 1 crash per 125-300 days.

Does anyone know if a PCA Performance Driving School class is covered under regular insurance? I don't think its a timed event.
